Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said he believes TE Martellus Bennett can improve significantly next season if he focuses on trying to make the improvements. "Bennett can get down to business. I know that he can ... The bottom line is, we all see what a tremendous weapon he is and can be. His blocking is really as impressive as his ability to be a big target for [QB Tony Romo]. I'm confident he sees that. He's extremely smart. He can get it. I think focus would be the word. He will get a lot more Tweets if he's a big-time ballplayer than he will just off of his creative ability," Jones said.
The Huddle Take: The Cowboys already have a pretty good tight end in Jason Witten, but Bennett could provide plenty of match-up problems playing out of the slot or in two-tight end formations. While second tight ends rarely offer much in the way of fantasy value, Bennett's upside could make him the exception to that rule.

The Associated Press reports Dallas Cowboys TE Martellus Bennett could start the team's Week 12 game Thursday, Nov. 26, if TE Jason Witten is held out. TE John Phillips would also see an increased workload.
The Huddle Take: Either way, this isn't a good match-up for the Cowboys as Oakland has yet to allow a tight end touchdown this season.

Calvin Watkins, of ESPNDallas.com, reports the Cincinnati Bengals made an offer to the Dallas Cowboys for TE Martellus Bennett before the trade deadline, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The source would not comment on any of the other details of the proposed deal.
The Huddle Take: In past years the Bengals haven't had much use for the tight end position, but that plan seemed to change heading into the 2009 season. Unfortunately for the Bengals, they were hit with a rash of injuries that left them short-handed at the position. Bennett would have given Cincy a pass-catching option who would also have been at least a serviceable blocker, but obviously the Cowboys have plans for him and weren't willing to part with him.
