New York Giants CB Terrell Thomas (knee) said he hopes to be able to play in Week 1 after aggravating his anterior cruciate ligament injury during training camp. Thomas said his knee feels strong and has not experienced any swelling. The Giants are not counting on Thomas to be ready for the opener.
Huddle Up: Thomas might not be ready for the Sept. 5 opener against the Cowboys, but the defending Super Bowl champs likely will need him sooner rather than later as fill-in starter Prince Amukamara went down with a high ankle sprain Friday night in the team's third preseason game. In the meantime, the G-men will need more pressure than ever from their formidable pass rush.

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin expects CB Terrell Thomas (knee) to be out for an extended period, even though he is still hoping for the best.
Huddle Up: Thomas sustained another injury to the same ACL he tore last season. Giants back-up safety Tyler Sash has been suspended for four games because of a failed drug test. CB Prince Amukamara just started running about eight weeks ago, after breaking his foot last August.
