The Arizona Cardinals intend to release WR Early Doucet. The team would save $1.7 million in salary cap space with the move.

Huddle Up: The Cards are clearing room for Michael Floyd to join Larry Fitzgerald in the lineup. Now Arizona needs a quarterback who can get these targets the ball, as well as an offensive line that provides him with time to do so.

Arizona Cardinals WR Early Doucet will likely be the odd-man out with WR Michael Floyd expected to become a bigger part of the offense in the second half of the season. WR Andre Roberts will likely line up opposite WR Larry Fitzgerald in the team's two- receiver sets, but Floyd is a prototypical outside receiver in three-wide sets. 'If Mike played more, he's just learning the 'Z' (position) and I would be forced to go into the slot,' Roberts said. 'I don't know what that would do to my reps. We have a whole bunch of formations. We'll see.'

Huddle Up: Doucet only has 19 catches for 159 yards so far, and it doesn't sound like there are going to be a whole lot more moving forward. If you're still holding on to Doucet, it's time to double-check the waiver wire for other options.

Arizona Cardinals WR Early Doucet was credited with two drops in Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers, and he has six drops on 39 targets. He lost playing time to rookie WR Michael Floyd as the game progressed, and that trend might continue following the team's bye.

Huddle Up: Doucet owners hopefully have realized this by now, but their man ranks fourth among Cardinals WRs with 159 yards and is the only one out of the quartet who hasn't had a TD reception. With QB John Skelton even struggling to get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald most weeks, Doucet's chances for fantasy success are beyond dim.

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd may start training camp as the No. 4 receiver because the coaching staff believe WRs Andre Roberts and Early Doucet are better than Floyd at this point.

Huddle Up: Rookies gotta earn it. If you've read some of Larry Fitzgerald's tweets lately you know that Floyd is going to put in the work. He got $10 million guaranteed too, so you know he'll get plenty of first-team reps in camp.
