Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens will start in place of WR Louis Murphy Week 11.

The Huddle Take: Dare we make the comparison to rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic?

Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens practiced without limitations Thursday, Oct. 22, and he should play Week 7.

The Huddle Take: Finally, some good news for the Oakland passing game! No word yet on how much Schilens will be involved, but given that Raider wideouts have produced three catches and six yards over the past two games you can go ahead and leave him on your fantasy bench until there's a better idea of what Chaz's role will be.

Steve Corkran, of the Oakland Tribune, reports Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens looked good in practice Wednesday, Oct. 21, according to head coach Tom Cable. However, it is still unclear if Schilens will start in Week 7.

The Huddle Take: Schilens has been sidelined since the preseason with a broken foot. While his return won't be the cure-all to Oakland's struggling passing game, it certainly presents them with another option.

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens went through drills and warm-ups and was in the regular rotation catching passes during practice Wednesday, Oct. 14. He has a chance to be active Week 6.

The Huddle Take: The Raiders might get Schilens back for this week, which means he could contend with Louis Murphy for the limited number of wide receiver receptions JaMarcus Russell and the Oakland passing game provides.

CBSSports.com reports Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens (foot) might play in the team's Week 4 game. Head coach Tom Cable said Schilens had a good workout Monday, Sept. 28, but that the team would see where he was at Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The Huddle Take: If indeed Schilens starts, it will do more to hurt Heyward-Bey than anyone else, but it will still be two rookie receivers starting on a team with one of the worst starting quarterbacks the league has ever seen. It will take a whole new kind of playmaker to really do much for the team, but he'll have a bit of value once he's on the field during the bye weeks if necessary.

Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens missed the team's practice Thursday, Sept. 17, and he will not play Week 2.

The Huddle Take: Schilens hopes to be back by Week 3, though what momentum he had generated for his fantasy value with a strong preseason was sapped by Louis Murphy's showing in the regular season opener.

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable indicated WR Louis Murphy would likely lose snaps instead of WR Darrius Heyward-Bey when WR Chaz Schilens returns. Cable said, "Schilens plays the other side (from Heyward-Bey). You've got the ability to get three guys on the field at the same time and maybe have some fun with that."

The Huddle Take: That's the theory right now, but the Raiders' rookie showed absolutely nothing in his NFL debut other than the drops that he's becoming known for. With the idea being to get your best players onto the field, it's hard to believe we won't see a Schilens/Murphy tandem sooner rather than later.

ANG Newspapers reports Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens (foot) did not practice Sunday, Sept. 6. He is not going to be ready to play in Week 1, but he hopes to return for Week 2. He said he is on schedule with his recovery. 'Everything is settled, the bone is healing well,' Schilens said. 'It's not up to me. It's kind of up to how much pain I have in my foot and how much pain I can deal with.'

The Huddle Take: Schilens is getting a lot of looks in fantasy drafts, but won't be on the field quite yet. Even when he is, the upside is relatively limited due to the lack of experienced quarterback play. Don't over reach for him.

Updating a previous report, CBSSports.com reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable said WR Chaz Schilens is expected to miss four to six weeks because of his broken foot.

The Huddle Take: That's a blow to the Oakland passing game, as Schilens had emerged as their top receiver. But even a six-week absence still gets him back on the field as early as Week 4, so don't erase him from your cheat sheet entirely.

Updating a previous report, ANG Newspapers reports Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens (foot) said he has a broken fifth metatarsal in his foot. He does not know how long he will be out.

The Huddle Take: This is bad news not only for the Raiders, obviously, but those looking for a sleeper receiver in the late rounds. Schilens should eventually play this season, but don't look for him to be in the lineup Week 1. Leave him on the free agent pile until the team establishes a timetable for his return.
