Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett has thrust himself into the lead running back role for the team. He is fourth in the NFL with 408 rushing yards and leads the league with 6.4 yards per carry. The team, however, still wants to use RB Bernard Pierce as an important part of their running game.

Huddle Up: Forsett is definitely the Ravens' back you want to own, with Pierce a distant second. Forsett (14) and Pierce (15) combined for 29 carries and a TD in last week's blowout of the Bucs, while rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro ran only twice.

Baltimore Ravens RBs Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro nearly split the carries in half in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers with RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) held out as a precaution. Forsett carried 14 times for 66 yards and a touchdown, while the rookie Taliaferro had 15 carries for 58 yards and a score. Forsett also added three grabs for 31 yards.

Huddle Up: With Pierce closer to health, the Baltimore backfield will be a muddled situation. Forsett should hang on to his pass-catching and change-of-pace duties; the real battle will be between Pierce and Taliaferro for primary and goal line carries.

Baltimore Ravens RBs Bernard Pierce and Justin Forsett will 'both play a lot' in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday, Sept. 11, and RB Lorenzo Taliaferro 'will be a big part of it, too,' according to head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh said Pierce is fine health-wise, but he was benched in Week 1 after fumbling. Forsett has the trust of offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak after the two worked together with the Houston Texans.

Huddle Up: Forsett had 16 of the team's 22 RB touches in Week 1, but don't count out Pierce just yet. His fumble was the first of his career and he's never missed a game in two-plus NFL seasons.

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett impressed in practice Friday, May 30, while taking most of the snaps with the first team in practice. Forsett was extremely fast and showed good hands in catching passes out of the backfield.

Huddle Up: At this juncture, all Forsett needs to do to be an impressive Ravens running back is stay out of jail and the drunk tank. Mission accomplished, though the standards for success will obviously be more rigorous as the season approaches.
