Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess could start while WR Josh Gordon
serves his two-game suspension.
Huddle Up: Bess, who's had at least 51 receptions in each of his 5 NFL seasons,
has the chance to make an early impression with his new team -- a
team desperate for offensive playmakers -- and carve out a role for
himself even after Gordon returns.

The Cleveland Browns acquired WR Davone Bess from the Miami Dolphins Friday, April 26. Cleveland sent their their fourth- and fifth-round picks to Miami for Bess and the Dolphins' fourth- and seventh-round picks. Shortly after the trade, Bess received a three-year contract extension.
Huddle Up: Bess will provide a nice slot target while Josh Gordon and presumably Greg Little work the outside. Bess had become superfluous in Miami; he'll be a welcome addition to the Browns' passing game in Cleveland, albeit one with limited fantasy value.
Posted: 4/25/2013 12:07pm et
The Miami Dolphins are highly likely to trade WR Davone Bess to the Cleveland Browns for mid-round picks.
Huddle Up: The Browns are in need of pass-catchers, and Bess is steady and serviceable slot option, having averaged 64 catches and 689 yards over his 5 seasons in Miami.
Posted: 3/29/2013 6:50pm et
The Miami Dolphins could look to trade WR Davone Bess during the 2013 NFL Draft if they want to upgrade at their slot receiver position. The team would save $2.7 million if they released Bess this offseason.
Huddle Up: Miami already has a bunch of dough tied up in Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline, so saving on a slot receiver makes sense. Bess is a talented pass-catcher who could be a solid PPR contributor if he winds up in a WCO with a penchant for throwing to the slot man.
Posted: 3/17/2013 3:16pm et
Miami Dolphins WRs Davone Bess, Armon Binns, Rishard Matthews, Brian Tyms and Jeff Fuller are expected to compete for two or three roster spots. The team could also add a wide receiver during the 2013 NFL Draft to join the competition.
Huddle Up: Bess has been a decent, low-end PPR option with at least 61 catches in 3 of the past 4 seasons, but with the additions of Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson obviously have dropped Bess down the depth chart.
Posted: 1/20/2013 12:20pm et
Miami Dolphins WR Davone Bess reportedly has completely recovered from the back injury that kept him out of the last three games of the season.
Huddle Up: Bess hauled in 61 passes in 13 games and been a steady PPR performer in his 5 pro seasons. Meanwhile, tough, the Dolphins are in need of a big-play, big-name receiver -- Greg Jennings? Mike Wallace? -- and look for the team to scratch that itch in the offseason.

Miami Dolphins WR Davone Bess (back) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 28, and has been ruled out for Week 17.
Huddle Up: Bess, the Dolphins' second-leading receiver, will miss his third straight game.
Posted: 12/21/2012 6:11pm et
Miami Dolphins WR Davone Bess (back) and LB Koa Misi (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and have been ruled out for Week 16.
Huddle Up: Considering Brian Hartline is also questionable, anyone gambling with Ryan Tannehill in what looks like a nice matchup might want to think twice. Of course if you are gambling with Tannehill you might have bigger problems.

Miami Dolphins WR Davone Bess (back) and LB Koa Misi (ankle) did not practice Friday, Dec. 14, and each has been ruled out for the Week 15 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Huddle Up: Bess, the Dolphins' second-leading receiver (612 catches for 778 yards), will miss his first game of the season.
Posted: 8/29/2012 10:52am et
Miami Dolphins WR Davone Bess is the only receiver on the team's roster believed to be a lock for the final 53-man roster heading into the regular season.
Huddle Up: You knew the Dolphins were wafer-thin at wide receiver, with Bess the only one garnering any fantasy attention--and that coming only in larger PPR leagues. Miami has some potential in guys like Roberto Wallace who will get a chance to play early on, but go ahead and let them develop on the waiver wire until we see which--if any--are worth a fantasy roster spot.
