Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said he believes RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis would be fine with sharing carries with a change-of-pace back. 'BenJarvus would probably welcome it,' Gruden said. 'It takes some carries off of him. Some guys want the ball every single play, but some guys like to get that rest and come out and have that change of pace guy. It would be nice. RB Cedric Peerman proved he could possibly be that guy. He had some big runs against Oakland and other teams. Maybe he'll step up in that role next year.'

Huddle Up: Peerman, who had an impressive 7.2 yards-per-carry average on 36 attempts this past season, could be the No. 2 man with the Bengals traditionally adverse to making any free-agent splashes.

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (hamstring) is still recovering from the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 17.

Huddle Up: The Law Firm had a solid, No. 2 RB season with 4 100-yard games and 6 TDs and should be more than good to go with 5 months remaining before training camp.

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis had a good, but not great, season, but offensive coordinator Jay Gruden feels his team lacked a speedy "gamebreaker" at running back. The team would like to find a speed back to complement Green-Ellis, and Gruden points to the draft. "We do probably need some kind of pace-changer, game-changer, speed, some breakaway-type thing," Gruden said.

Huddle Up: Apparently the Bengals don't view Bernard Scott as the solution to their speed-back dilemma, so look for them to pursue a complement to BJGE in the upcoming draft.

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 3.

Huddle Up: The Bengals' leading rusher, limited for the second straight day, will be needed Saturday to give Cincy some balance against the Texans.

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (hamstring) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Jan. 1, but did do some running on the side.

Huddle Up: Green-Ellis came up gimpy in Week 17 pre-game warmups Sunday, but the Bengals will no doubt need the services of their leading rusher (1,094 yards) if they hope to upset the host Texans in Saturday's wild-card contest.

Posted: 12/30/2012 4:20pm et

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis suffered a hamstring injury during pregame warmups and did not play in Week 17.

Huddle Up: This tripped up a number of fantasy owners who weren't monitoring their lineups in the final minutes before kickoff. The Law Firm was scheduled to at least play a half with the rest of the Cincy regulars despite the Bengals being locked into the AFC's No. 6 seed. Brian Leonard led Cincy in rushing in the game with 34 yards on 10 carries and may be called on in the playoffs if Green-Ellis can't go next weekend.

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (illness) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 28, and is probable for Week 17.

Huddle Up: The Law Firm was back at work after sitting out Thursday's practice, and coach Marvin Lewis insists he'll treat Sunday's contest against the Ravens like a regular game even though the Bengals are locked into the AFC's No. 6 seed. That said, Green-Ellis has a better-than-average matchup Sunday against a Baltimore D which ranks in the league's bottom half in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing backs, so definitely don't hesitate to start him.

Cincinnati Bengals' RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis rushed 25 times for 106 yards and a TD Thursday night in a 34-13 Week 15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Green-Ellis extended his late-season fantasy surge, eclipsing 100 rushing yards for the fourth time in the past five games and scoring his third TD over that span.

Posted: 12/13/2012 1:46pm et

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis has amassed five rushes for at least 20 yards over his last four games, which is tied for most in the NFL during that span. His 197 yards after contact over the last four games ranks second in the league.

Huddle Up: The Law Firm's big-play prowess has been somewhat surprising, and if now if he could only pick up his TD pace -- he only has 5 after rushing for 11 and 13, respectively, in the past 2 seasons -- his fantasy owners would have a No. 1 RB fixture.

Posted: 11/7/2012 7:28pm et

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Huddle Up: It's a mid-week illness and not an injury so no need to be concerned.

Posted: 10/4/2012 12:11pm et

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis has fumbled on three of his last 28 touches, an area of concern for the team. "It's very uncharacteristic of him. It's not in his history. It's not in his DNA. But sometimes they happen," offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said. "Obviously coach (Jim) Anderson's on him, we're on him, he's on himself and hopefully it doesn't continue. It can't continue because obviously he's a feature back. It can't continue or he won't be a feature back."

Huddle Up: Had BJGE been plagued with this case of the dropsies in New England we might never have heard of him, as Bill Belichick would have buried him deep in the doghouse. Instead, he should get the opportunity to work through the issue while still receiving carries. After all, what are the Bengals' alternatives? Brian Leonard? Bernard Scott? Neither is a legitimate threat to Green-Ellis' carries at this point.

Posted: 9/15/2012 6:26pm et

Cincinnati Bengals RB Bernard Scott (hand) has a good chance of playing in Week 2. If Scott plays, he will share carries with RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

Huddle Up: Green-Ellis was one of the Bengals' few fantasy bright spots in Week 1, rushing for 91 yards and scoring the team's lone TD in a 44-13 shellacking by the Ravens. Green-Ellis had 18 of the team's 24 RB rushing attempts in the game, but that percentage is likely to dip if Scott is back in the mix.

Posted: 8/26/2012 7:47pm et

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (foot), TE Jermaine Gresham (knee) and LB Rey Maualuga (knee) are not expected to play in the final preseason game Thursday, Aug. 30, but should be ready for the start of the regular season.

Huddle Up: All three players more or less will be held out as precautionary measures. At least the Bengals hope so with their feature RB, starting TE and starting MLB comprising the list.

Posted: 8/12/2012 10:50pm et

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (foot) will miss the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 16, against the Atlanta Falcons.

Huddle Up: It's Week 2 of the preseason, and this has the sound of a precautionary move on Cincy's part. Having parted ways with Cedric Benson, who had posted three straight 1,000-yard seasons, in the offseason, the Bengals signed Green-Ellis with designs on the former Patriot becoming their lead back. That in mind, there's no rhyme or reason to trotting him out in an meaningless exhibition contest.

Posted: 8/7/2012 2:39pm et

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis has been listed as the first-string running back ahead of RB Bernard Scott on the team's initial depth chart.

Huddle Up: No shocker here. The Bengals signed the free-agent RB with the idea of him filling Cedric Benson's shoes in the lead-back role. Cincy already knew what it had in Scott, and the Law Firm could be in line to post career numbers this season. Keep that in mind on fantasy draft day.
