Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable said WR Darrius Heyward-Bey could lose playing time if his production does not increase. "I think so. I absolutely think so," Cable said following Week 10. Heyward-Bey had one catch for 22 yards in the game, in addition to two red zone drops.
The Huddle Take: It's taken this long for Cable to figure out that Heyward-Bey isn't that good? His one catch was inexplicably held up on review despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, and his bobble on the next play cost the Raiders a shot at a come-from-behind win. And it's not that everyone in football this side of Al Davis didn't see DHB struggling like this—except, apparently, Cable.

The San Francisco Chronicle, reports Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (toe) likely will start in the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 13, and will play the first half.
The Huddle Take: The rookie wideout Heyward-Bey has all the physical attributes to be a major contributor for the Raiders. He has the size at 6'2" and the speed as he has been clocked at 4.3 in the 40-yard dash. Oakland is desperately looking for a playmaker in the passing game and only time will tell if Heyward-Bey is the answer they seek. Despite his toe injury he should be viewed as a decent sleeper candidate with upside this year.

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders rookie WR Darrius Heyward-Bey was the target of 16 passes during practice Tuesday, Aug. 4, and he had 14 receptions. He had a one-handed snag near the sidelines. One of his misses was a low pass, and another could have been a pass interference.
The Huddle Take: Since DHB's drops have been well-chronicled this preseason, it's only fair to note that he actually did what he was supposed to do almost 88% of the time during yesterday's practice.

ANG Newspapers reports Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey said he is not concerned with a number of dropped passes he has had early in training camp. 'Im confident. I mean, like I said before, its football. Youre going to catch some, youre going to drop some. Im still going to come off 110 miles per hour. Im still going to run past you, I dont care who you are,' Heyward-Bey said.
The Huddle Take: Let's see if he stays that cocky if he continues to drop balls when the regular season starts. He's an explosive talent, but combine the facts that he drops balls and has JaMarcus Russell throwing him those balls, and Heyward-Bey is a risky Fantasy proposition at best.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports the Oakland Raiders have reached a deal with rookie WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, their first-round draft choice. Terms have not been disclosed.
The Huddle Take: Heyward-Bey has blazing speed, but he also had a rough time in mini-camp with dropping balls. He's going to be under even more scrutiny than the usual first-round draft choice, seeing how the Raiders passed on Michael Crabtree to take the Maryland burner.

The San Francisco Chronicle, reports the Oakland Raiders likely will bring WR Darrius Heyward-Bey along slowly as he adjusts to the NFL.
The Huddle Take: The Raiders will likely utilize Johnnie Lee Higgins and Javon Walker as their top wideouts heading into training camp, however it would not be totally unexpected to see the rookie Darrius Heyward-Bey surprise during the preseason and find his way into the lineup as a No. 3 receiver. The rookie has some nice upside and could be a nice sleeper candidate for fantasy teams this year.

ANG Newspapers reports Oakland Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring) left practice early Wednesday, June 17, and left the field clutching his right hamstring.
The Huddle Take: This is certainly not what the Raiders wanted to see from their No. 1 draft pick this early in training camp. Hopefully this will not be the early indicator that Heyward-Bey will have lingering problems with injuries during the course of the year. Fantasy owners should temper their expectations for the rookie at least until he proves he is going to be a factor in the Raiders offense this season.

The New York Daily News reports the Giants are apparently targeting University of Maryland WR Darrius Heyward-Bey and are looking to trade up in the first round in hopes of drafting him, according to sources.
The Huddle Take: Unless Heyward-Bey goes prematurely to the Raiders at No. 7, the Giants shouldn't have to trade up too far to secure him. A package of their No. 1 and lesser No. 2 would get them into the 17-18 range; their No. 1 and the No. 2 acquired from the Saints would land them three spots higher, according to the standard draft pick value chart.
