Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins LB Brian Orakpo said he is not ruling out the possibility of signing a contract extension before the start of training camp. Orakpo is entering the final year of his current deal.

Huddle Up: A bit of a tough time to be eyeing an extension coming off a torn pectoral muscle that sidelined him for 1.5 games of the 2012 season. Orakpo, though, had only missed 1 game in 3 seasons prior to that, so there's no reason to believe it's really anything more than a 1-time stroke of bad injury luck.

Washington Redskins LB Brian Orakpo (torn pectoral muscle) and DE Adam Carriker (torn quad tendon) are expected to miss the rest of the season after sustaining injuries in Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams.

Huddle Up: A tough double whammy for a defense, which stood out in Week 1's win over the Saints but struggled against QB Sam Bradford and the Rams on Sunday. Orakpo got his first sack of the season earlier in Sunday's game.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins LB Brian Orakpo (shoulder) underwent an MRI on his shoulder Sunday, Aug. 19, and it did not show any serious damage around his shoulder. He is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Huddle Up: Good news for the Skins and Geico, who might've needed someone else to pair with the caveman if Orakpo was unable to film any new commercials. Insurance ads aside, Orakpo paced Washington with eight sacks a season ago and forced a trio of fumbles. He's a team leader and a big reason why the Skins finished 12th in the league with an average of 222.1 passing yards allowed per outing.
