The Indianapolis Colts placed RB Donald Brown (ankle) and FB Robert Hughes (knee) on the Injured Reserve Tuesday, Dec. 11, and re-signed RBs Deji Karim and Mewelde Moore to the active roster in corresponding moves. Also, the team signed free-agent RB Davin Meggett (Texans) to the practice squad and released RB Alvester Alexander from the practice squad. OG Justin Anderson (undisclosed) was placed on the practice squad injured list.
Huddle Up: Count on plenty of work for rookie Vick Ballard, who had his second-highest touch total of the season (20) -- and 104 total yards -- this past Sunday with Brown sidelined.
Posted: 12/2/2012 7:42pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown suffered an ankle injury late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's Week 13 game and didn't return.
Huddle Up: Brown was held in check before the injury, with only 13 rushing yards on 6 carries and 2 catches for 10 yards. Fellow RB Vick Ballard, meanwhile, had 62 total yards an a TD on 12 touches and could be in line for much more work if Brown's injury keeps him out of any action.

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) practiced in full Friday,
Nov. 16, and is probable for Week 11.
Huddle Up: Things took a swing in a positive direction Friday for Brown, who
practiced after sitting out Thursday. The Colts have announced
rookie Vick Ballard will start, but count on Brown getting his fair
share of touches Sunday against the Patriots.
Posted: 11/15/2012 10:20pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 15.
Huddle Up: Not a good sign for Brown, who practiced in full Wednesday, but then was held out a day later. Monitor Friday's workout report to see if the RB is able to get back on the field.

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) figures to be listed as
day-to-day this week leading up to the team's Week 11 game against
the New England Patriots.
Huddle Up: Brown earned a somewhat-surprising active designation in Week 10,
and the led the Colts with 14 rushing attempts. He only gained 42
yards, though, and didn't catch a pass, so even when healthy, Brown
is anything but an automatic start in the majority of leagues.
Posted: 11/9/2012 12:03am et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown carried the ball a team-high 14 times for 42
yards Thursday night in his team's 27-10 Week 10 win over the Jacksonville
Jaguars.
Huddle Up: After missing Week 9 and the Colts' practices early in the week, Brown was
declared active in somewhat of a pre-game surprise. He finished with 2 more
carries than rookie Vick Ballard, but Ballard was slightly more productive with 48
rushing yards and 2 receptions for 11 yards. Brown did not register a catch. Expect
the backs to split time going forward.
Posted: 11/8/2012 2:37pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) is expected to try to play Week 10 even though he was not able to practice this week.
Huddle Up: This would be a bit of a surprise and we're still awaiting the official word. Still, if Brown plays, he likely will take a chunk of the RB touches away from rookie Vick Ballard, who has been Indy's projected starter all week.
Posted: 11/7/2012 3:55pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 7, and is listed as questionable for Week 10.
Huddle Up: In contrast with Donnie Avery, Brown's lack of practice could hamer his playing status for this week. He wound up playing last week despite a late ding on his playing status, but he tallied just one reception for seven yards. As long as Vick Ballard is playing well, Brown might not get much opportunity.
Posted: 11/6/2012 7:03pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) did not practice Tuesday, Nov. 6.
Huddle Up: Vick Ballard owners be ready -- that's 2 missed practices in 2 days for Brown, who was on the sideline this past Sunday as well.
Posted: 11/5/2012 10:01pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) did not practice Monday, Nov. 5.
Huddle Up: Brown's knee kept him out of Colts' Week 9 win over the Dolphins, and the short week leading up to Thursday night's game in Jacksonville isn't going to do him any favors. In the meantime, rookie Vick Ballard, who had 98 total yards Sunday, will be prepping for another start.
Posted: 11/3/2012 10:52pm et
The Indianapolis Colts have downgraded RB Donald Brown (knee) from probable to questionable for Week 9 because of a knee injury.
Huddle Up: Brown is coming off one of his best outings of the season (80 yards on 14 carries) but missed practices this week as his knee flared up. Now, it's looking like rookie Vick Ballard will be in line for at least a good chunk of the work Sunday with Brown's status surrounded by question marks.
Posted: 11/2/2012 6:45pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 2, and is listed as probable for Week 9.
Huddle Up: Brown caused a little consternation among his fantasy owners by missing Thursday's practice, but his full participation Friday signals he's good to go. On the flip side, Brown does have a tough matchup against a Dolphins D which has allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs.
Posted: 11/1/2012 10:55pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 1.
Huddle Up: Brown played this past week for the first time in 3 games so this may be precautionary more than anything. Check back Friday to see if Brown is able to give it a go.
Posted: 10/31/2012 4:53pm et
Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts head coach Bruce Arians said RBs Donald Brown and Vick Ballard will play 'equal amounts' in Week 9, and he'll wait to see how everything transpires before naming a starting running back.
Huddle Up: This dings both Brown's and Vick Ballard's values as fantasy backs. Both were in for average days last week before Ballard's spectacular spinning touchdown catch in overtime. Delone Carter's presence could be an even bigger drag; he vultured a touchdown on just two carries last week.
Posted: 10/26/2012 1:23pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) could return to play in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans after practicing in full again Thursday, Oct. 25. However, Brown would unlikely carry a large workload in his first game back, especially after RB Vick Ballard had 148 yards on 37 carries in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns.
Huddle Up: Vick Ballard's stock takes a hit this week, but it seems like Brown will not cut into Ballard's playing time a terrible amount if he does play. It's a good matchup for Ballard, so do not worry too much about Brown unless they announce he is the starter.
Posted: 10/24/2012 11:59pm et
Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown
(knee) will be re-evaluated Thursday, Oct. 25, to see how his knee
responds. He might be able to play in Week 8.
Huddle Up: Brown has missed 2 straight games following his top effort of the
season (92 yards on 19 touches in Week 5). In the meantime, rookie
Vick Ballard has had 1 strong game (103 total yards) and one
lackluster outing (42) in his stead.
Posted: 10/10/2012 12:55pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (knee) will not play in Week 6. Brown had surgery Tuesday, Oct. 9, to repair torn knee cartilage. RB Vick Ballard will start in Brown's place.
Huddle Up: This will keep him out a few weeks, making Vick Ballard a strong free agency pick up. If you need a spot starter in the next few weeks, go get Ballard before it's too late. He has a particularly nice matchup against the Jets this week.
Posted: 7/3/2012 8:21pm et
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown might need to establish himself this season and take advantage of his opportunities, or the team might elect to part ways with him before next season. This season is likely his last chance to show he can be a bona fide No. 1 back.
Huddle Up: There are varying fantasy opinions on Brown this year but his seventh-round ADP is definitely ripe for value.
Posted: 6/20/2012 6:37pm et
Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said RB Donald Brown is an every down back. 'Donald is an every down back,' Pagano said. 'He is doing a tremendous job and he is having a fantastic offseason. He understands, especially on third down as far as protections go and all of those things. Nothing is going to be more important than protections.'
Huddle Up: "Three-down back (?)". Hmmm. It's Browns' big chance, no doubt about it. Joseph Addai is gone. However, Delone Carter is still in the mix and the Colts just signed Mewelde Moore to possibly take over on third downs.
