The Buffalo Bills put the non-exclusive franchise tag on free-agent FS Jairus Byrd. Byrd would get a one-year, $6.916 million contract if he signs his franchise tag tender.
Huddle Up: It's a good draft for safety help so the Bills should be able to keep Byrd for at least another year. The tag also buys them time to negotiate a long-term deal.

Buffalo Bills secondary coach George Catavolos said FS Jairus Byrd struggled being looked off certain routes by opposing quarterbacks last season and trying to jump other routes. Byrd said he has been watching film this offseason so he can be more disciplined this season. 'On film you get to know where they're at and it also goes a little bit more toward seeing the bigger picture,' Byrd said.
Huddle Up: Byrd exploded into the fantasy scene last year with 75 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 3 INTs, and a touchdown. He was a top-6 IDP DB in any format. Byrd still flies under the radar in mock drafts even though Buffalo's revamped front-four could force tons of errant throws.
