Dave Hutchinson, of The Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has been impressed with RB Shonn Greene (ankle) and said he wants to use Green as part of a rotation with RBs Thomas Jones and Leon Washington. Green rushed for 23 yards on four carries in Week 4, although he did suffer an ankle injury in the game. 'The kid is a good running back,' Ryan said. 'He has some explosiveness. He kind of turned his ankle late in the game. I think this kid has a chance to be a good one.'
The Huddle Take: Just what fantasy owners want to hear - a two headed running back committee morphing into a three headed one. So far this season the workload has been split pretty evenly between Thomas Jones and Leon Washington. But last week when Greene was utilized more Washington only received four carries to Jones' 13. Washington will remain more active in the passing game however, helping his fantasy production.

Jets Confidential, reports New York Jets RB Shonn Greene (ribs) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 18. He is listed as probable for Week 2 and said he has been cleared to play. He likely would not receive a lot of carries if he were active.
The Huddle Take: The Jets rookie running back Shonn Greene has battled a rib injury for the last few weeks but appears ready to see some action in Week 2. With Thomas Jones and Leon Washington running well it would be hard to imagine Greene getting very many carries at this point. However, fantasy owners should keep him on their radar just in case there is an injury to the other running backs ahead of him on the depth chart.

Jets Confidential, reports New York Jets RB Shonn Greene (ribs) practiced Friday, Sept. 11, but he might be inactive for Week 1 due to the numbers and limited work lately.
The Huddle Take: Due to the amount of playing time that the rookie has missed in the preseason due injury problems, it appears that the Jets will take their time easing Greene back onto the field. Fantasy owners should consider Greene a solid sleeper candidate this year however he will be part of a crowded backfield with Thomas Jones and Leon Washington also getting a good portion of the carries.

The New York Daily News, reports New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said RB Shonn Greene (ribs) likely will miss the rest of the preseason because of some cartilage issues.
The Huddle Take: The Jets have been very high on Greene but this development will likely mean more carries for Thomas Jones and Leon Washington to start the year. Look for the rookie to get some reps but he is likely to start slowly due to limited playing time in the preseason.

The Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets rookie RB Shonn Greene (ankle) continues to be limited by an ankle injury.
The Huddle Take: Rookie running back Shonn Greene looks to give veterans Thomas Jones and Leon Washington some competition for the starters job barring set backs like this ankle injury. Expect the injury to not limit him for long and keep an eye on Greene during the preseason as he could be a nice surprise for fantasy owners looking for those hidden gems in drafts.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said rookie RB Shonn Greene (ankle) suffered an ankle injury, which hasn't improved much. Ryan said Greene has been trying to tough it out, but the team is going to hold him out for the time being. They hope Greene will be able to return to the field soon.
The Huddle Take: Greene has a solid chance of getting a few good carries a game considering the situation of those in front of him, so this is a setback of course, but at the moment it doesn't appear overly serious, so continue to monitor the situation as the preseason progresses. Consider it good that the team seems to be playing it smart.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said rookie RB Shonn Greene has "starter ability." He noted Greene was the top-rated player on their draft board by a wide margin, which is why the team traded up to the top of the third-round to get him. "It wasn't necessarily a need," Ryan said.
The Huddle Take: It would have been only a little less subtle had Ryan pulled potential holdout Thomas Jones into a conference call as he made these statements. Greene will also get to learn alongside Gang Green's quarterback of the future, Mark Sanchez, and he very well could make Jones expendable even if the veteran decides he's okay with his current $1 million contract.
