The Sacramento Bee reports San Francisco 49ers RB Glen Coffee (concussion) will miss the team's Week 10 game Thursday, Nov. 12, because of a concussion, according to head coach Mike Singletary.

The Huddle Take: With Frank Gore back he's not much of fantasy option but it is worth noting that he'll be out for at least a week.

CBSSports.com reports San Francisco 49ers RB Glen Coffee (concussion) suffered a concussion during the team's Week 9 game.

The Huddle Take: With Frank Gore back in action Coffee has little fantasy value, but it is worth noting that he suffered a concussion. These days that warrants the consideration for missed time, so monitor the situation if you're a Coffee owner.

Daniel Brown, of the San Jose Mercury News, reports San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Singletary said the offense will not change with RB Glen Coffee as the starting running back.

The Huddle Take: That's reassuring news for those who have Coffee as Gore's handcuff or scooped him up off the waiver wire this week. San Francisco's offense runs through Gore, and Coffee's 25 carries in relief of the injured starter suggests the same will hold true despite the change in personnel.

The San Jose Mercury News reports San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye said he has been impressed with RB Glen Coffee's bruising running style as well as his consistent pass-protection skills.

The Huddle Take: It would appear that Frank Gore finally has some competition to push him in the backfield. If ever someone has needed that extra push it is Gore, so Coffee will at least serve some purpose this season. Look for him to be a bit player who will score a few times but not light anything up on a regular basis. The benefit here goes to Gore.

The San Francisco 49ers selected Alabama RB Glen Coffee during the third round, pick No. 74 overall. Matt Maiocco, of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports the 49ers had said they wanted a running back to complement starting RB Frank Gore. Coffee appears to be better-suited as short-yardage back. Coffee said he plans to play in the 220-pound range.

The Huddle Take: Coffee has drawn comparisons to fellow Crimson Tide alum Shaun Alexander and could provide immediate fantasy value as a complement to (and potential short-yardage vulture for) Gore.
