The Miami Dolphins, privately, have vehemently denied a report that they are shopping WR Mike Wallace. Meanwhile, Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill has been throwing to receivers for more than two weeks, but Wallace has been out of town. Wallace has said previously that at some point this offseason, he and Tannehill need to work on their deep-ball chemistry.

Huddle Up: Wallace did hit a career high in receptions with 73 last season, but his yards-per-catch average (12.7) and TD total (5) were career lows. Look for those latter numbers to rebound, especially if Tannehill is afforded more time to throw deep after being sacked an NFL-high 58 times in 2013 -- 10 times more than any other QB.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace said he wants the offense to change to use the deep ball more in 2014. "We have to," Wallace said. "Definitely have got to get the deep ball going. That's the difference between winning and losing a couple games. I should have had 15 or 20 more touchdowns. And that's being modest. If you press me, you have no shot to cover me. Once I get you to stop your feet, it's over."

Huddle Up: Judge for yourself: Wallace finished 14th among NFL WRs with 138 targets in 2013, but caught only 73 passes. Moreover, only 7 of those receptions resulted in gains of 30 yards or more, and just 2 of 7 30-yard gains resulted in TDs.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace said Tuesday, Nov. 19, that he could be 'a lot better,' and that he has had disappointing chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill so far. He is disappointed that the things he did with the Pittsburgh Steelers for four years have not translated to success with his new team. Offensive coordinator Mike Sherman thinks Wallace is coming around. 'I thought Mike had a tremendous ball game,' Sherman said of Wallace's Week 11 performance against the San Diego Chargers.

Huddle Up: Wallace's "tremendous" Week 11 game consisted of 4 catches for 39 yards -- falling even below his disappointing per-contest averages of 4.4 receptions and 53.4 yards. Wallace only has 2 100-yard games and 1 TD, which came way back in Week 2. One long reception could give him a good fantasy week at any time, but at this point, his fantasy owners are better off writing this off as a lost season.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace (hamstring) is expected to play unless he suffers a setback. He is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Huddle Up: Wallace might be hindered a bit but he has a good match-up this week against a struggling Chargers' pass defense. The game is a late kickoff but if Wallace plays he'll be a WR3 with big upside for fantasy owners.

Posted: 9/18/2013 12:09am et

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace was grumpy after Week 1 when he managed just one reception, but after his big stat line in Week 2, he is suddenly bubbly. 'I was the deep guy there (in Pittsburgh). But I always want to show people I can do more than deep routes. So this is fun for me,' Wallace said. He has lined up in the slot, and is allowed to move around more.

Huddle Up: Amazing what a 9-115-TD game on a team-high 11 targets will do. Still, given the developing nature of 2nd-year QB Ryan Tannehill and the Miami passing game, Wallace could fall back to 1-catch territory again this week and his attitude might follow suit.

Posted: 9/12/2013 11:10pm et

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill said the team wants to throw the ball to WR Mike Wallace but will not force throws to him. 'I'm going to play the quarterback position the way the coaches install the plays,' Tannehill said. 'I'm going to go through the reads just like they install it. We're going to try and get him the ball when he's in the play, but we're not going to force him the ball.'

Huddle Up: Despite his 1-catch, 15-yard effort on 5 Week 1 targets, definitely don't bail on Wallace as he should find the going easier this week in Indy without Browns Pro Bowl CB Joe Haden there to shadow his evey mood.

Posted: 9/9/2013 2:11pm et

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace was unhappy with not being targeted in the first half of the team's Week 1 game and finishing the game with only four targets. Wallace did not talk after the game because he did not want to throw the coaches under the bus.

Huddle Up: Hard to understand why Wallace would be upset after winning a game, but he will get his looks.

Posted: 9/9/2013 10:51am et

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace refused to speak to reporters after the Week 1 win against the Cleveland Browns after managing just one catch for 15 yards in his team debut. 'Ask coach,' Wallace said about how he was used. 'It's not my game plan.'

Huddle Up: Wow, that didn't take long. No 'Happy to get the win with my new team', just pouting about the game plan. We'll see if the squeaky wheel gets some grease in the next game, but don't bank on it.

Posted: 8/8/2013 8:46pm et

The Miami Dolphins still are trying to decide whether WR Mike Wallace (groin) will play in the second preseason game.

Huddle Up: 13 Dolphins caught passes in the HOF Game on Sunday, but Wallace -- the team's big-$$$ free-agent signee -- wasn't one of them. Fantasy GMs and Fins fans yearning to see how the WR is going to fit in on his new team might start getting a little antsy if he misses a 2nd-straight contest.

Posted: 8/1/2013 7:51pm et

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace (groin) said he has been dealing with a groin injury but hopes to play in the Hall of Fame Game Sunday, Aug. 4. He said he does not believe the injury is serious.

Huddle Up: The Fins get the "benefit" of playing 5 exhibition contests, so this isn't a make-or-break deal by any stretch.

Posted: 7/24/2013 4:00pm et

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace hasn't impressed anyone during offseason team activities or so far in training camp, and he hasn't shown good chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill, either. Wallace has been dropping passes and doesn't consistently run full speed in practices, and he hasn't connected on a long pass in 11-on-11 drills with Tannehill all offseason.

Huddle Up: It's plenty early, and that's a pretty subjective assessment. But if the drops continue Wallace will start hearing about it. At minimum it's enough to maybe slow the Miami fantasy hype train just a little bit--or at least the passing game portion, while the Lamar Miller train continues to chug along.

Posted: 5/16/2013 1:05pm et

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace said he does not think building chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill will not be too difficult and expects the chemistry to be fine once training camp begins. Wallace said he works with Tannehill after each practice.

Huddle Up: Wallace has averaged 65-1,095-9 over the past 3 seasons, and there's no reason to think he can't reach or eclipse those figures in 2013 -- even with a new QB in a new system.
