Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace leads the team in receptions (20), receiving yards (246) and touchdowns (three). However, the deep ball hasn't been a big part of his game, in large part because QB Ryan Tannehill has struggled with them. He also leads the receivers with 34 targets. After dropping 12 passes in 2013, he has just two in four games.

Huddle Up: Wallace has definitely become a more complete receiver this season, to the benefit of his fantasy bottom line. If the Dolphins are able to give Tannehill time to throw deep and Wallace adds the long ball back to his game, he would secure a spot amongst the game's elite fantasy receivers.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 26, but is listed as probable for Week 4.

Huddle Up: It's looks like a green light for Wallace, who has found the end zone in 6 of his last 9 games dating back to last season.

  • Posted: 8/6/2014 10:22am ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is struggling on deep balls thrown to WR Mike Wallace (hamstring) so far in camp. Wallace said his hamstring injury is still limiting him in reaching top speed. The two converted just six of 36 passes of 20 or more yards last season.

Huddle Up: Lots of moving parts for the Miami offense to adjust to, including Wallace and Tannehill getting on the same page with the deep ball. First Wallace needs to heal that hammy so the duo can get some practice time in.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace (hamstring) will not practice or scrimmage the rest of the week due to a sore hamstring.

Huddle Up: Still early in camp, so still plenty of time to recover and bounce back. Hammy injuries tend to linger, so it would behoove Wallace to take it easy now so he can be more of a factor once the games start to count.

  • Posted: 7/30/2014 9:21am ET

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace (hamstring) began practice Wednesday, July 30, on the exercise bike as he's dealing with some hamstring soreness.

Huddle Up: Plenty of hamstring issues early in training camp; the key will be for Wallace to go easy and allow the injury to heal so it doesn't become a lingering problem. If we're still talking about Wallace's hammy problems in two weeks, then you can start to worry.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace has the highest base salary of any non-quarterback in 2014, earning $15.0 million. He will count $17.25 million against the Dolphins' salary cap and would cost the team $26.8 million in dead money should they choose to release him during the fiscal year.

Huddle Up: Mind boggling numbers for a wideout who posted career season lows with his 12.7 yards-per-catch average and his 5 TD receptions last season.

  • Posted: 6/2/2014 11:59pm ET

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace has been lining up at different positions during organized team activities in an effort to get him open and be less predictable.

Huddle Up: Moving Wallace around could help the Dolphins get more out of their big-ticket receiver, though ultimately Wallace's best route from wherever he lines up is the deep ball--something defenses are most certainly aware of.

  • Posted: 5/27/2014 8:55pm ET

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said WR Mike Wallace looks and feels more comfortable in his second year with the team.

Huddle Up: Wallace owners will be banking on a bounce-back year after he finished 25th among all fantasy wideouts last season with 126 points.

  • Posted: 5/5/2014 12:11am ET

Some of the Miami Dolphins players believe some of the coaches are not big fans of WR Mike Wallace.

Huddle Up: So far it's been a rough year-plus in Miami for Wallace, who caught a career-high 73 passes this past season but hit career lows in yards-per-catch (12.7) and TD catches (3). The speedy WR must show he's more than a one-trick -- i.e. deep go-route -- wideout.

  • Posted: 4/23/2014 12:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace said the team's new offensive system fits his big-play style.

Huddle Up: It's true that Mike Sherman's WCO approach wasn't particularly Wallace-friendly. And while Bill Lazor isn't expected to overhaul the Dolphins' attack, his success with Nick Foles and DeSean Jackson in Philadelphia last season certainly bodes well for Miami's Ryan Tannehill-to-Wallace connection.

  • Posted: 4/2/2014 1:10am ET

The Miami Dolphins, privately, have vehemently denied a report that they are shopping WR Mike Wallace. Meanwhile, Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill has been throwing to receivers for more than two weeks, but Wallace has been out of town. Wallace has said previously that at some point this offseason, he and Tannehill need to work on their deep-ball chemistry.

Huddle Up: Wallace did hit a career high in receptions with 73 last season, but his yards-per-catch average (12.7) and TD total (5) were career lows. Look for those latter numbers to rebound, especially if Tannehill is afforded more time to throw deep after being sacked an NFL-high 58 times in 2013 -- 10 times more than any other QB.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace said he wants the offense to change to use the deep ball more in 2014. "We have to," Wallace said. "Definitely have got to get the deep ball going. That's the difference between winning and losing a couple games. I should have had 15 or 20 more touchdowns. And that's being modest. If you press me, you have no shot to cover me. Once I get you to stop your feet, it's over."

Huddle Up: Judge for yourself: Wallace finished 14th among NFL WRs with 138 targets in 2013, but caught only 73 passes. Moreover, only 7 of those receptions resulted in gains of 30 yards or more, and just 2 of 7 30-yard gains resulted in TDs.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace said Tuesday, Nov. 19, that he could be 'a lot better,' and that he has had disappointing chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill so far. He is disappointed that the things he did with the Pittsburgh Steelers for four years have not translated to success with his new team. Offensive coordinator Mike Sherman thinks Wallace is coming around. 'I thought Mike had a tremendous ball game,' Sherman said of Wallace's Week 11 performance against the San Diego Chargers.

Huddle Up: Wallace's "tremendous" Week 11 game consisted of 4 catches for 39 yards -- falling even below his disappointing per-contest averages of 4.4 receptions and 53.4 yards. Wallace only has 2 100-yard games and 1 TD, which came way back in Week 2. One long reception could give him a good fantasy week at any time, but at this point, his fantasy owners are better off writing this off as a lost season.

  • Posted: 11/16/2013 12:46pm ET

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace (hamstring) is expected to play unless he suffers a setback. He is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Huddle Up: Wallace might be hindered a bit but he has a good match-up this week against a struggling Chargers' pass defense. The game is a late kickoff but if Wallace plays he'll be a WR3 with big upside for fantasy owners.
