Atlanta Falcons CB Christopher Owens likely will become the team's nickel back after the season-ending injury to CB Brent Grimes (Achilles') in Sunday's season opener. CBs Dunta Robinson and Asante Samuel will be the starting cornerbacks.

Huddle Up: Grimes was designated the Falcons' franchise player in the offseason and was a key piece of a reinforced secondary that Atlanta hopes will end a 6-year run ranked in the bottom half of the league's pass-defense stats. Owens and Co. will be put to the test in the coming weeks with Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Cam Newton, Michael Vick and Drew Brees among the opposing QBs on the schedule.
