The Miami Dolphins re-signed WR Brian Hartline to a five-year, $30.775 million deal that includes $12.5 million guaranteed.

Huddle Up: The Dolphins are hoping that Harline winds up being a very well-compensated WR2, as they would like to sign Mike Wallace in free agency and/or pursue a wideout with an early pick in the upcoming draft. Hartline was an inconsistent fantasy contributor, and if he winds up as the second option in Miami the peaks will likely become fewer and farther between.

The Miami Dolphins are close to re-signing WR Brian Hartline to a multiyear deal worth between $6 million and $6.5 million per season.

Huddle Up: Even if Miami does retain Hartline, the Dolphins are still expected to pursue a big-name, No. 1 wideout in free agency.

Drew Rosenhaus, agent for Miami Dolphins impending free-agent WR Brian Hartline, said Hartline wants to re-sign with the team this offseason but the two sides are not close to an agreement at this point.

Huddle Up: Hartline, who led the Fins in receiving with 74 catches for 1,083 yards, may find himself the odd-man out in South Beach with the Dolphins expected to pursue a big-name free-agent wideout (Greg Jennings?) this offseason, leaving him free to test the open market.

Impending free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) will likely be looking for $5-6 million per year on the open market if he gets there when free agency opens in March. It's uncertain if the Miami Dolphins will be able to retain him at that price, or if they have any interest in doing so.

Huddle Up: In a status-quo situation, Hartiline likely would be OK, but it's expected to be anything but in South Beach this offseason with the Dolphins expected to aggressively pursue a top-level free-agent wideout.

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (back) practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 27.

Huddle Up: With fellow wideout Davone Bess (back) expected to miss a third straight game, Hartline will be the Fins' go-to receiver again, but he hasn't done much the past 2 weeks with 7 catches for 89 yards.

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (back) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Huddle Up: With fellow wideout Davone Bess already ruled out, the effectiveness of the Dolphins' passing game -- and Ryan Tannehill's fantasy value -- might hinge on Hartline's health. It was at least a good sign that Hartline was on the practice field Friday after sitting out Thursday, but fantasy owners are likely going to need to check The Huddle's Game Day Inactives, Injuries and Weather report prior to kickoff Sunday morning.

Posted: 12/20/2012 11:31pm et

Miami Dolphins RB Marcus Thigpen expects WR Brian Hartline (back) to play in Week 16.

Huddle Up: Hartline hasn't missed a game all season, and the Fins' leading receiver (67 catches for 1,002 yards) ranks 15th in the league with 117 targets.

Barring any setbacks, the Miami Dolphins expect WR Brian Hartline (groin/hamstring) to play during Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts. Hartline was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 2, and is listed as questionable on the injury report.

Huddle Up: Hartline should be out there, but those starting him should keep in mind that almost half of Hartline's 555 receiving yards and his lone TD came in one game (Week 4 vs, the Cardinals).

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Huddle Up: The NFL's leader in receiving yards (514) looks good to go again this week with the Dolphins hosting fellow surprise team St. Louis on Sunday.

Posted: 8/31/2012 3:23pm et

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (calf) was expected to participate in practice Friday, Aug. 31.

Huddle Up: This is excellent news for Miami's WR corps and Ryan Tannehill. Hartline is expected to be the team's No. 1 receiver, but injuries have held him back. He will be a clear upgrade at the position when he gets into game shape. He is not really worth drafting, but he could be a great waiver wire addition if he comes back and stays healthy.
