The New York Jets have restructured the contract of RB Mike Goodson, which has lowered his salary cap figure from $1.9 million to $1.28 million.

Huddle Up: Goodson will get a second season in the Big Apple after being limited to 2 games and 80 yards from scrimmage due to a league disciplinary suspension and a knee injury in 2013.

The New York Jets could consider releasing RB Mike Goodson because of his off-field issues and a $650,000 roster bonus he is scheduled to receive.

Huddle Up: Chris Ivory looked capable of being the Jets' primary back last season, with Bilal Powell as his backup. Ivory has injury issues, but neither back carries Goodson's off-the-field baggage. The $650K bonus might be enough to convince the Jets he's not worth the trouble.

New York Jets RB Mike Goodson may be subject to NFL discipline again after being indicted on a gun charge last week. Goodson could be subject to discipline under the league's personal conduct policy.

Huddle Up: Goodson could go from a 4-game substance-abuse suspension to 2 games of reserve action to injured reserve to another season-opening suspension next year. In the meantime, fantasy GMs will be busy lining up options they can actually count on.

The New York Jets placed WR Clyde Gates (shoulder) and RB Mike Goodson (knee) on the season-ending Injured Reserve Tuesday, Oct. 15. Gates had 12 catches for 122 yards on the season, while Goodson had 9 touches for 80 yards. The team also signed RB Miguel Maysonet from the practice squad to their active roster.

Huddle Up: This spells more work for WRs Stephen Hill, Jeremy Kerley and Santonio Holmes -- when he returns -- and RB Chris Ivory.

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Mike Goodson (knee) suffered a knee injury in the Week 6 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he is scheduled for an MRI Monday, Oct. 14. A person close to Goodson said Sunday, Oct. 13, that the injury 'doesn't look good.'

Huddle Up: That is unfortunate for Goodson, who had just made it back from suspension. This does clear things up in that backfield, however. Bilal Powell and Chris Ivory are going to handle the load as long as they're healthy.

New York Jets RBs Mike Goodson (hamstring) and Chris Ivory (hamstring) are each active for the Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday, Oct. 7.

Huddle Up: With Goodson coming off a four-game suspension and Ivory back after missing Week 4, this will be the first time all 3 of the Jets' top backs will be active for a game -- not necessarily the best of news for Bilal Powell owners.

Posted: 10/5/2013 6:35pm et

The New York Jets have activated RB Mike Goodson from the exempt list and promoted WR Mike Campbell from the practice squad. They have also released LB Ricky Sapp and WR Ryan Spadola.

Huddle Up: Goodson doesn't have any fantasy value this week. However, if Chris Ivory continues to struggle with injuries and inconsistency, Goodson has a chance to push Bilal Powell for playing time in the coming weeks.

Posted: 9/30/2013 6:19pm et

New York Jets RB Mike Goodson is eligible to rejoin the team for practice Monday, Sept. 30, after serving his four-game suspension for substance abuse.

Huddle Up: Goodson's return coupled with Chris Ivory's could spell an end to Bilal Powell's reign as the feature back in New York. We don't know just how Goodson is going to fit in, but now is as good a time as ever to sell on Powell.

Posted: 9/4/2013 12:27am et

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell is listed at the top of the team's depth chart, ahead of RB Chris Ivory and newly acquired RB Alex Green. RB Mike Goodson will also join the mix after he serves his four-game suspension.

Huddle Up: Do you really want to put any fantasy stock in anyone on the Jets' offense until proven otherwise? Didn't think so.

Posted: 8/26/2013 10:53pm et

New York Jets RB Mike Goodson has been suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substance Abuse.

Huddle Up: The bad news just keeps coming for the beleaguered Jets, who signed Goodson to a 3-year, $6.9 million deal in March only to see the RB get arrested on gun and marijuana charges 2 months later. He'll be eligible to return Sept. 30, leaving the RB chores to Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell to start the season.

Posted: 8/26/2013 2:52pm et

New York Jets RB Mike Goodson is expected to report to the team within the next 24 hours. Goodson has not participated in training camp because of personal issues.

Huddle Up: It will be interesting to see if he can break into the rotation at running back. Neither Chris Ivory nor Bilal Powell has done much to impress this preseason. Then again, this is the Jets offense we're talking about.

Posted: 7/26/2013 6:13pm et

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan would not comment when asked if he thought RB Mike Goodson would return to the team at any point. Goodson did not report for training camp because he is dealing with personal issues unrelated to his offseason arrest.

Huddle Up: With Chris Ivory dinged and Joe McKnight just coming off the PUP, Goodson would have had an opportunity to lay claim to the feature back job in New York. Instead, he's dealing with personal issues and Bilal Powell looks to be the only man standing for the Jets.

Posted: 7/26/2013 12:25am et

The New York Jets placed RB Mike Goodson on the Reserve/Did Not Report list Thursday, July 25, and put RB Joe McKnight (ankle, leg) on the Non-Football Injury list.

Huddle Up: Goodson reportedly is dealing with undisclosed personal issues unrelated to his off-season arrest, while McKnight failed a conditioning test. In the meantime, this gives an early leg up to Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell in the team's RB depth-chart derby.

Posted: 6/12/2013 1:08pm et

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the team could use more two-back sets. RBs Chris Ivory, Mike Goodson and Bilal Powell are in the mix.

Huddle Up: The Jets aren't going to throw anyway--effectively, at least--so why not have options in the backfield? Goodson still has some legal hurdles to clear before he joins Ivory, Powell, and Joe McKnight in the backfield mix, and Ivory's contract--and talent--suggest he's the lead dog, but there is still some fantasy value to the rest of the backs especially given Ivory's penchant for injury.

Posted: 6/7/2013 5:05pm et

Anthony J. Fusco, attorney for New York Jets RB Mike Goodson, said the other arrested person involved in Goodson's arrest last month said the gun found in the car was his and not Goodson's. Goodson was charged with possession of a firearm and hollow-point bullets, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Goodson's chances to stay with the Jets would improve if the gun charges against him are dropped.

Huddle Up: Eluding the gun charges would be half the battle for Goodson, who would still have to contend with the justice system and the league over the drug charges. But hey, in Jets World this is considered good news.

Posted: 5/31/2013 11:17am et

New York Jets RB Mike Goodson looked good while participating in organized team activities Thursday, May 30, catching passes and showing quick feet to beat defenders. "You see the speed that he has," head coach Rex Ryan said. "That's what jumps out at me anyway. He had the ball in the open field a couple times, and you see the acceleration that he has. That's been impressive."

Huddle Up: The hope is that Goodson is available (read: out of jail, not suspended) to serve as a complement and insurance policy for Chris Ivory in the Jets' backfield. With Ivory no sure thing to hold up to 16 games of a feature back's workload, a talented handcuff like Goodson is a shrewd fantasy move. The key, of course, will be for Goodson to avoid real-life handcuffs so he can fulfill those duties for the Jets.

Posted: 5/20/2013 3:57pm et

New York Jets RB Mike Goodson was in attendance at the team's first OTA practice Monday, May 20, but only to meet with team officials following his arrest on drug and weapons charges last week. Goodson didn't participate or watch the team's workouts, and his future with the team is uncertain. If Goodson pleads guilty or is convicted of unlawful possession of a handgun, he'll be subject to the Graves Act, which is a New Jersey law that carries a minimum of three years in jail.

Huddle Up: Joe McKnight becomes the primary backup to Chris Ivory, while Goodson should be more concerned about staying out of jail than how many carries he'll get with the Jets.

Posted: 5/19/2013 4:28pm et

New York Jets OG Willie Colon said he does not think RB Mike Goodson will remain with the team after being arrested earlier this week on drug and weapons charges. 'It's one of the things where it's zero-tolerance with stuff like that,' Colon said. 'It's sad. Mike could have been huge for us.'

Huddle Up: It remains to be seen if Goodson's run with the Jets is over before it really began, but in any case, the news is a boon for the fantasy stock of Chris Ivory, another offseason RB addition for the squad.

Posted: 5/17/2013 2:55pm et

New York Jets RB Mike Goodson was arrested Friday, May 17, and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a loaded handgun and possession of a hollow-point bullet. Goodson was being held on $50,000 full cash bail.

Huddle Up: You can bet Goodson has earned himself a sit-down with Roger Goodell, as well as a likely suspension. And that's a best-case scenario; the Jets could flat-out release him, and he could be up for the Burt Reynolds or Adam Sandler role in yet another remake of "The Longest Yard."
