New York Jets RB Mike Goodson was in attendance at the team's first OTA practice Monday, May 20, but only to meet with team officials following his arrest on drug and weapons charges last week. Goodson didn't participate or watch the team's workouts, and his future with the team is uncertain. If Goodson pleads guilty or is convicted of unlawful possession of a handgun, he'll be subject to the Graves Act, which is a New Jersey law that carries a minimum of three years in jail.
Huddle Up: Joe McKnight becomes the primary backup to Chris Ivory, while Goodson should be more concerned about staying out of jail than how many carries he'll get with the Jets.

New York Jets OG Willie Colon said he does not think RB Mike Goodson will remain with the team after being arrested earlier this week on drug and weapons charges. 'It's one of the things where it's zero-tolerance with stuff like that,' Colon said. 'It's sad. Mike could have been huge for us.'
Huddle Up: It remains to be seen if Goodson's run with the Jets is over before it really began, but in any case, the news is a boon for the fantasy stock of Chris Ivory, another offseason RB addition for the squad.

New York Jets RB Mike Goodson was arrested Friday, May 17, and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a loaded handgun and possession of a hollow-point bullet. Goodson was being held on $50,000 full cash bail.
Huddle Up: You can bet Goodson has earned himself a sit-down with Roger Goodell, as well as a likely suspension. And that's a best-case scenario; the Jets could flat-out release him, and he could be up for the Burt Reynolds or Adam Sandler role in yet another remake of "The Longest Yard."
Posted: 4/6/2013 6:56pm et
New York Jets RB Mike Goodson is expected to be the favorite to win the starting running back job next season.
Huddle Up: Goodson has shown occasional flashes of production, but given the decline of the Jets' offensive line play and their lack of threat in the passing game it's tough to be overly optimistic about Goodson as anything more than a fringe fantasy value.
Posted: 3/21/2013 4:57pm et
New York Jets RB Mike Goodson said Wednesday, March 20, that his role has yet to be spelled out, but he feels his time is now to take the next step in his career. Goodson has solid speed, and he has the ability to catch the ball and go for big plays. He had three receptions for at least 40 yards last season with the Oakland Raiders.
Huddle Up: Goodson has the opportunity -- and ability -- to produce some fantasy stats with Gang Green, but the key will be staying healthy as he's played in only 16 games over the past 2 seasons with the Panthers and Raiders, respectively.
Posted: 3/15/2013 1:35pm et
The New York Jets have agreed to terms with free-agent RB Mike Goodson on a three-year deal worth $6.9 million, according to a source. Goodson is expected to have a significant role with the team. He could potentially be the team's starting running back in 2013. RBs Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight do not have experience as every-down backs, and the Jets feel Goodson was one of the top sleepers in free agency.
Huddle Up: Goodson has had solid short-term runs with the Panthers and Raiders, so it wouldn't be unfathomable for him to emerge as the Jets' starter. With starter--or at least lead-back--carries comes significant fantasy upside, especially in a run-oriented offense such as the Jets'.

Oakland Raiders RB Mike Goodson (ankle) returned to the practice field Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Huddle Up: Combined with Darren McFadden's return, it seems like the clock has struck midnight for Marcel Reece. He might get some run at the goal line and in passing situations, but the Raiders are likely to roll with their top two running backs if they respond well to practice.
Posted: 11/8/2012 10:43am et
Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said he will determine Friday, Nov. 9, whether RB Mike Goodson (ankle) will play in Week 10. At this point, it appears to be a long shot he will play in the game.
Huddle Up: Goodson is nursing an ankle injury and barring something unusual won't be available to take advantage of an opportunity to step in for the similarly injured Darren McFadden. Looks like Taiwan Jones and Marcel Reece will handle backfield chores for the Raiders.
Posted: 11/7/2012 10:51am et
Oakland Raiders RB Mike Goodson is currently listed as day-to-day with a high ankle sprain.
Huddle Up: Goodson would have been the go-to guy with Darren McFadden sidelined, but their matching high ankle sprains will push Taiwan Jones and Marcel Reece to the front of the Oakland backfield hierarchy for the next month or so.
Posted: 11/4/2012 9:13pm et
Oakland Raiders backup RB Mike Goodson suffered an ankle injury in the third
quarter of Sundays Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Goodson
left the contest, and didn't return.
Huddle Up: Goodson's injury came after starting RB Darren McFadden left the game in the first
half with an ankle injury of his own, and it left the Raiders with only FB Marcel
Reece and RB Taiwan Jones to handle the rushing chores. It wasn't nearly enough
as the Raiders finished with only 22 yards on 11 carries with McFadden accounting
for 17 of those yards before his exit. The Raiders could be looking toward the
waiver wire if McFadden and/or Goodson is expected to miss any significant time
going forward.
Posted: 8/15/2012 1:23pm et
Oakland Raiders RB Mike Goodson (neck) has returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 15.
Huddle Up: This is good news for anyone trying to handcuff Darren McFadden, who has averaged just 11.25 games played per season throughout his career. Goodson is the man to own in that backfield as Run DMC's backup.
Posted: 8/8/2012 12:20pm et
Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Mike Goodson was released from the hospital Tuesday, Aug. 7, and he was able to return to the team hotel at training camp.
Huddle Up: Goodson suffered a neck injury during Tuesday's practice, but by all accounts the move to take Goodson to the hospital was purely precautionary. We'll see how quickly he gets back to practice, but right now the story of Oakland's training camp is how Darren McFadden remains healthy while his understudies continue to rack up the injuries.
Posted: 8/7/2012 11:35pm et
Oakland Raiders RB Mike Goodson (neck) was carted off the practice field Tuesday, Aug. 7, and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Early indications are that he is doing well and expected to be fine.
Huddle Up: Running back could become a real problem position for the Raiders. The Silver & Black's top 3 backs -- Darren McFadden, Goodson and Taiwan Jones -- all have durability issues. Jones (hamstring) and now Goodson (neck) already have been nicked up in camp before the preseason opener, and no one needs to be reminded of McFadden's fragility. If the bumps, bruises and sprains persist, the Raiders could be hitting the waiver wire for help well before September rolls around.
Posted: 8/2/2012 12:18pm et
Oakland Raiders RB Taiwan Jones was working with the second-team offense, ahead of RB Mike Goodson, even before the latter suffered a hamstring injury.
Huddle Up: If you're looking for the early favorite to be Darren McFadden's handcuff, Jones is your guy as his speed is a great fit for Greg Knapp's zone scheme. Knapp's track record suggests there will be around 500 carries for Oakland backs, and since McFadden has topped 115 just once in his four pro seasons even if he somehow avoids injury there's an opportunity for the Raiders' RB2 to make a fantasy impact.
