Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess went without a catch on three targets in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns.

Huddle Up: Funchess appeared to be the No. 1 receiver heading into the season, but D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel have sped past him and he is irrelevant from a fantasy perspective at this point.

  • Posted: 12/2/2018 1:34pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess had just one grab for 10 yards in Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he made it count for a touchdown on three targets.

Huddle Up: Funchess entered the game with a back injury, and he was expected to see limited snaps and that was certainly the case. He'll be a questionable fantasy play heading into Week 14 in Cleveland, too.

  • Posted: 12/2/2018 6:29am ET

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) is expected to play in Week 13's game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a limited basis.

Huddle Up: Funchess had been listed as questionable on the injury report after logging one full practice session and one limited session during the week. He should be viewed as a risky flex option this afternoon since he will see fewer offensive snaps than usual.

  • Posted: 11/30/2018 2:36pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back, not injury related) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 30, but he is still listed as questionable for Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Funchess has appeared to fall behind D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel, but he still could be a useful WR5 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams against a leaky Bucs pass defense.

  • Posted: 11/29/2018 11:52am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back, non-injury) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 29.

Huddle Up: Funchess appears to have a chance to play in the Week 13 game, but owners should know more about his status in the next day or two. He has been held to under 50 yards in each of his last four games and can be avoided even if he is active for the game.

  • Posted: 11/29/2018 9:24am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) returned to practice Thursday, Nov. 29, after sitting out the previous day with a back injury.

Huddle Up: Funchess' stat lines had been trending the wrong direction even before he sat out Week 12 with the back issue. And if he's able to play in Week 13, he's a flex dart-throw at best with rookie D.J. Moore having taken over as the top wideout in Carolina.

  • Posted: 11/28/2018 12:00pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) remained out of practice Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Huddle Up: If Funchess can't take the field for a second straight week then Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, Greg Olsen and Curtis Samuel (if he plays) will benefit the most. Jarius Wright would be a flex option in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 11/24/2018 8:47pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) is not expected to play against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12, according to a source.

Huddle Up: With Funchess out of action, DJ Moore will have a golden opportunity to build on his 157-yard performance from last weekend. Consider Moore a high-upside WR3.

  • Posted: 11/23/2018 10:22am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) missed practice Friday, Nov. 23, and is listed as doubtful for Week 12 with a back injury.

Huddle Up: On top of Funchess' recent statistical struggles comes a back issue, meaning it's truly time for his fantasy owners to look elsewhere for starting-WR help. In the meantime, rising rookie WR D.J. Moore sees his fantasy stock continue to climb.

  • Posted: 11/22/2018 4:38pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 22.

Huddle Up: Funchess could be a game-time decision this week even if he is able to practice Friday, Nov. 23. He has been held to under 50 yards in each of the last four games and probably would only be a flex option if he plays.

  • Posted: 11/21/2018 3:42pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to check later in the week to see if Funchess is in any danger of missing the Week 12 game. He has been on a bit of a cold streak recently with four straight games of under 50 yards receiving. He can be considered a No. 3 receiver or flex option in leagues this week if he plays.

  • Posted: 11/18/2018 2:06pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess had just two grabs for 39 yards in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions despite tying for the team high with eight targets.

Huddle Up: It's his fourth straight game with mediocre production, as D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel have blown by him in terms of fantasy usefulness. He is worth a look as a low-end WR5 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks.

  • Posted: 11/16/2018 8:54pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess has seen five targets or less in three straight games heading into Week 11 after seeing at least seven targets in each of the previous six games.

Huddle Up: Even when Funchess was being targeted more frequently, he hasn't had more than 77 receiving yards in any game this season. He's a WR4 at this point.

  • Posted: 11/8/2018 8:31pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess caught three of his five targets for 32 yards in a 52-21 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10.

Huddle Up: Funchess has now been held below 50 receiving yards in three straight games, and he has just 13 targets over that span. He's the closest thing Carolina has to a No. 1 receiver, but he is only a WR3 option for fantasy purposes.

  • Posted: 11/4/2018 2:49pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted four receptions for 44 yards on five targets in the Week 9 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been seeing D.J. Moore creeping up and stealing the eye of his quarterback, but Funch led the wideouts in targets in this one. Still, it wasn't a big performance, and he remains more of a WR5 heading into Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.

  • Posted: 10/28/2018 2:12pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted three grabs for 27 yards on his three targets in the Week 8 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Huddle Up: Funchess appeared to be the de facto No. 1 receiver heading into the season, but it appears rookie D.J. Moore has now moved into that role, leaving Funch to battle for scraps behind Moore, Greg Olsen and Christian McCaffrey. That's not a good place for his fantasy appeal heading into Week 9.

  • Posted: 10/21/2018 1:36pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess finished with six receptions for a team-best 62 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Funchess had managed just one touchdown over his first four games, but he has found the end zone in each of the past two outings and he has four or more grabs in five straight. He'll look to extend both streaks in Week 8 against the Ravens.

  • Posted: 10/14/2018 1:19pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess racked up five receptions for a game-high 74 yards on eight targets in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins.

Huddle Up: Funchess has racked up three or more receptions in each of his five outings, and he has found the end zone twice in the past three contests. He isn't a top-notch fantasy option, but he posts consistent enough production for a WR3 in most fantasy leagues. The Panthers meet the Eagles in Philadelphia in Week 7.

  • Posted: 10/7/2018 6:07pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted four catches for a team-best 53 yards on seven targets in Week 5 against the New York Giants.

Huddle Up: Funchess is the top dog on the depth chart, but he still has fantasy value only as a WR4 or flex play in leagues of 12 or more teams at this point. The Panthers travel to meet the Redskins in Week 6.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 2:49pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted four receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Huddle Up: Funchess found the end zone for the first time this season. He has racked up at least three receptions in each of his three games, and he has been targeted 21 times. Funchess is the receiver to own in Carolina for fantasy owners, especially with Greg Olsen (foot) on the shelf. You'll need fantasy alternatives to Funchess in Week 4, however, as the team is on a bye.

  • Posted: 9/16/2018 2:30pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted seven receptions for 77 yards on nine targets in the Week 2 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Huddle Up: Funchess is it for the Panthers, as far as downfield threats in Charlotte. With Greg Olsen (foot) on the shelf again, Funchess, Christian McCaffrey and Jarius Wright appear to be the top targets in the pass game for Cam Newton right now. Target Funch as a WR4 in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 3 against the Bengals, with slightly more value in PPR formats.

  • Posted: 9/9/2018 8:48pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess finished with three receptions for 41 yards on five targets in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Huddle Up: Funchess didn't do a whole lot, but no one really did in a defensive slog in Charlotte. He'll try to bounce back in a divisional road game against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. He had seven catches for 134 yards and a touchdown on 13 total targets in two games against Atlanta in 2017.

  • Posted: 7/26/2018 8:28pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (cramps) exited practice with cramps Thursday, July 26.

Huddle Up: Funchess is the closest thing the Panthers have to a No. 1 receiver right now, but Cam Newton has never been the most consistent passer and rookie D.J. Moore figures to make a quick impact. Funchess is a solid WR3 but doesn't have a lot of upside.

  • Posted: 6/13/2018 6:36pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (cramps) left practice early Wednesday, June 13, and was treated for leg cramps.

Huddle Up: Funchess may sit out the last practice of the minicamp but should be ready for the start of training camp. He had a breakout season in 2017 and should be the No. 1 receiver for the Panthers again this season. He can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 5/27/2018 8:06pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess has the talent to reach 1,000 yards, according to Bill Voth of Panthers.com, but Voth doesn't believe offensive coordinator Norv Turner wants a 'true No. 1 wideout' for his offense.

Huddle Up: Funchess became Carolina's top receiver for much of last season, but with Greg Olsen returning and some offseason additions to the receiving corps, he won't be the only mouth to feed. Don't expect him to be more than a WR3.

  • Posted: 2/27/2018 10:06am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess has 'just scratched the surface (of how good he can be),' according to general manager Marty Hurney, who believes the midseason move of Funchess to the 'X' receiver 'really fits his skill set the best.'

Huddle Up: Funchess broke out in a big way in 2017, taking advantage of Greg Olsen's extended injury-related absence and the midseason trade of Kelvin Benjamin, finishing with 63 catches for 840 yards and eight touchdowns. Whether or not the Panthers choose to overhaul the position this offseason, Funchess appears to be a good bet to be the team's go-to receiver again in 2018.

  • Posted: 2/23/2018 6:14pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess, WR Curtis Samuel and WR Damiere Byrd are the only receivers who should feel safe entering the 2018 season, according to David Newton of ESPN.com, and Newton believes the receiving corps could undergo a complete overhaul.

Huddle Up: The Panthers could use a true No. 1 receiver, but unless they make a move in free agency, Funchess would be the go-to guy with WR2 potential in 2018.

  • Posted: 1/7/2018 5:16pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (ankle, shoulder) fought through multiple injuries in the NFC Wild Card Game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Jan. 7, finishing with four receptions for 79 yards. He rolled his ankle early in the game, and his pre-existing left shoulder injury caused him to play with his arm hanging limp at times during the game.

Huddle Up: Funchess showed a lot of toughness fighting through not one, but at least two injuries. He struggled down the stretch in December, but looks like he could be a legitimate target for Cam Newton, who is desperately in need of NFL caliber receivers going forward.

  • Posted: 1/7/2018 12:29pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is officially active for the Wild Card playoff game against the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Funchess should have a big role in the passing game but will be facing a solid Saints pass defense. He can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver for owners.

  • Posted: 1/4/2018 11:04am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) admitted his practice absences of late have been precautionary.

Huddle Up: It makes sense that the Panthers would take it easy with their top wideout before the playoffs begin. Despite missing practice this week he will be good to go for Sunday's contest. View him as a WR2 for now in regards to the 2018 season.

  • Posted: 1/4/2018 9:49am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) was not able to practice Thursday, Jan. 4.

Huddle Up: Funchess has missed practices before because of his shoulder injury and still played, so he should still be able to go this weekend. The Panthers will need him, too, against a much improved New Orleans Saints defense and standout rookie Marshon Lattimore. As for next year, Funchess sits among WR2s as Carolina's best wide receiver.

  • Posted: 12/29/2017 3:30pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been pretty quiet over the last few weeks but does have four touchdowns in his last six games. He should have solid role in the passing game against the Atlanta Falcons this week and could be a No. 3 fantasy receiver.

  • Posted: 12/28/2017 12:20pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been quiet over the last two weeks with only four catches and 30 yards over that span. His injury may be affecting his play, which makes him a risky option for owners. Funchess could be a No. 3 receiver for fantasy owners but could also be benched if owners have better options.

  • Posted: 12/27/2017 2:27pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Huddle Up: Funchess was limited to 11 yards in Week 16, and he should be treated more as a WR4 in all fantasy leagues heading into the regular season finale.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 1:54pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess finished with three catches and 11 yards on four targets in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Funchess was limited in practice this week by a shoulder ailment and he clearly didn't look 100 percent. He did nothing against an awful Buccaneers pass defense.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 9:12am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 16 game.

Huddle Up: Funchess is looking to bounce back from a disappointing Week 15 game but should continue to be the team's top at receiver. He can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in all fantasy leagues because of the matchup.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 6:45am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 16's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to multiple sources.

Huddle Up: Funchess was listed as questionable on the injury report after logging just one limited practice session during the week. He has a very favorable matchup against a banged-up Tampa Bay secondary and should be viewed as a WR2 in all fantasy formats this afternoon.

  • Posted: 12/22/2017 3:44pm ET

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 22, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Huddle Up: Funchess said he expects to play in Week 16, but owners will need to check the inactive list for his official status. He has played well as the team's No. 1 receiver and would be a starting fantasy option in all leagues if he is able to play.

  • Posted: 12/21/2017 6:58pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) said he will play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16.

Huddle Up: It's important to note that the team has yet to confirm Funchess will play, but if he does suit up, he will be a WR2 against a porous Tampa Bay defense.

  • Posted: 12/21/2017 1:08pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

Huddle Up: Funchess was able to play last week despite missing practice Friday, Dec. 15, so he still has a chance to play this week. Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation over the next few days because he can be a No. 2 fantasy receiver if he plays.

  • Posted: 12/20/2017 6:53pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor Funchess' situation during the week to see if he is in any danger of missing Week 16. He is coming off a disappointing Week 15 performance but will continue to be the team's top receiver. He should have a favorable matchup this week and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 3:39pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess was limited to just one catch for 19 yards on four targets in Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been battling a shoulder injury and perhaps the ailment was hindering him. Damiere Byrd stepped up with two touchdowns, and Greg Olsen had a monster game from the tight end position to make up for the absence of Funchess.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 8:59am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 15 game.

Huddle Up: Funchess should receive a solid amount of targets against the Green Bay Packers and can be a No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues because of the matchup.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 7:08am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 15 even though he is listed as questionable for the game, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Funchess has become the team's top receiver this season and has posted four touchdowns in the last four games. He should have a favorable matchup this week and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/15/2017 2:50pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not practice Friday, Dec. 15, and he is listed as questionable for Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: Funchess has thrived in the role of No. 1 receiver in Carolina since the trade of Kelvin Benjamin, serving as a solid WR3 or flex fantasy option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 12/14/2017 1:13pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 14.

Huddle Up: Funchess had a tough matchup last week but finished the game with 59 yards and a touchdown. He has been targeted at least seven times in four of the last five games and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver this week.

  • Posted: 12/13/2017 3:32pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) were listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Huddle Up: Funchess has exceled as the team's No. 1 receiver, emerging as a useful WR3 or flex fantasy option across the board in most formats. He has a nice matchup against the Packers, the league's 24th-ranked pass defense.
