Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (cramps) exited practice with cramps Thursday, July 26.

Huddle Up: Funchess is the closest thing the Panthers have to a No. 1 receiver right now, but Cam Newton has never been the most consistent passer and rookie D.J. Moore figures to make a quick impact. Funchess is a solid WR3 but doesn't have a lot of upside.

  • Posted: 6/13/2018 6:36pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (cramps) left practice early Wednesday, June 13, and was treated for leg cramps.

Huddle Up: Funchess may sit out the last practice of the minicamp but should be ready for the start of training camp. He had a breakout season in 2017 and should be the No. 1 receiver for the Panthers again this season. He can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 5/27/2018 8:06pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess has the talent to reach 1,000 yards, according to Bill Voth of Panthers.com, but Voth doesn't believe offensive coordinator Norv Turner wants a 'true No. 1 wideout' for his offense.

Huddle Up: Funchess became Carolina's top receiver for much of last season, but with Greg Olsen returning and some offseason additions to the receiving corps, he won't be the only mouth to feed. Don't expect him to be more than a WR3.

  • Posted: 2/27/2018 10:06am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess has 'just scratched the surface (of how good he can be),' according to general manager Marty Hurney, who believes the midseason move of Funchess to the 'X' receiver 'really fits his skill set the best.'

Huddle Up: Funchess broke out in a big way in 2017, taking advantage of Greg Olsen's extended injury-related absence and the midseason trade of Kelvin Benjamin, finishing with 63 catches for 840 yards and eight touchdowns. Whether or not the Panthers choose to overhaul the position this offseason, Funchess appears to be a good bet to be the team's go-to receiver again in 2018.

  • Posted: 2/23/2018 6:14pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess, WR Curtis Samuel and WR Damiere Byrd are the only receivers who should feel safe entering the 2018 season, according to David Newton of ESPN.com, and Newton believes the receiving corps could undergo a complete overhaul.

Huddle Up: The Panthers could use a true No. 1 receiver, but unless they make a move in free agency, Funchess would be the go-to guy with WR2 potential in 2018.

  • Posted: 1/7/2018 5:16pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (ankle, shoulder) fought through multiple injuries in the NFC Wild Card Game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Jan. 7, finishing with four receptions for 79 yards. He rolled his ankle early in the game, and his pre-existing left shoulder injury caused him to play with his arm hanging limp at times during the game.

Huddle Up: Funchess showed a lot of toughness fighting through not one, but at least two injuries. He struggled down the stretch in December, but looks like he could be a legitimate target for Cam Newton, who is desperately in need of NFL caliber receivers going forward.

  • Posted: 1/7/2018 12:29pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is officially active for the Wild Card playoff game against the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Funchess should have a big role in the passing game but will be facing a solid Saints pass defense. He can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver for owners.

  • Posted: 1/4/2018 11:04am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) admitted his practice absences of late have been precautionary.

Huddle Up: It makes sense that the Panthers would take it easy with their top wideout before the playoffs begin. Despite missing practice this week he will be good to go for Sunday's contest. View him as a WR2 for now in regards to the 2018 season.

  • Posted: 1/4/2018 9:49am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) was not able to practice Thursday, Jan. 4.

Huddle Up: Funchess has missed practices before because of his shoulder injury and still played, so he should still be able to go this weekend. The Panthers will need him, too, against a much improved New Orleans Saints defense and standout rookie Marshon Lattimore. As for next year, Funchess sits among WR2s as Carolina's best wide receiver.

  • Posted: 12/29/2017 3:30pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been pretty quiet over the last few weeks but does have four touchdowns in his last six games. He should have solid role in the passing game against the Atlanta Falcons this week and could be a No. 3 fantasy receiver.

  • Posted: 12/28/2017 12:20pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been quiet over the last two weeks with only four catches and 30 yards over that span. His injury may be affecting his play, which makes him a risky option for owners. Funchess could be a No. 3 receiver for fantasy owners but could also be benched if owners have better options.

  • Posted: 12/27/2017 2:27pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 1:54pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess finished with three catches and 11 yards on four targets in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Funchess was limited in practice this week by a shoulder ailment and he clearly didn't look 100 percent. He did nothing against an awful Buccaneers pass defense.

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 16 game.

  • Posted: 12/22/2017 3:44pm ET

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 22, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Huddle Up: Funchess said he expects to play in Week 16, but owners will need to check the inactive list for his official status. He has played well as the team's No. 1 receiver and would be a starting fantasy option in all leagues if he is able to play.

  • Posted: 12/21/2017 6:58pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) said he will play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16.

Huddle Up: It's important to note that the team has yet to confirm Funchess will play, but if he does suit up, he will be a WR2 against a porous Tampa Bay defense.

  • Posted: 12/21/2017 1:08pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 21.

Huddle Up: Funchess was able to play last week despite missing practice Friday, Dec. 15, so he still has a chance to play this week. Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation over the next few days because he can be a No. 2 fantasy receiver if he plays.

  • Posted: 12/20/2017 6:53pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor Funchess' situation during the week to see if he is in any danger of missing Week 16. He is coming off a disappointing Week 15 performance but will continue to be the team's top receiver. He should have a favorable matchup this week and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 3:39pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess was limited to just one catch for 19 yards on four targets in Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been battling a shoulder injury and perhaps the ailment was hindering him. Damiere Byrd stepped up with two touchdowns, and Greg Olsen had a monster game from the tight end position to make up for the absence of Funchess.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 8:59am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 15 game.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 7:08am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 15 even though he is listed as questionable for the game, according to a source.

  • Posted: 12/15/2017 2:50pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not practice Friday, Dec. 15, and he is listed as questionable for Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: Funchess has thrived in the role of No. 1 receiver in Carolina since the trade of Kelvin Benjamin, serving as a solid WR3 or flex fantasy option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 12/14/2017 1:13pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 14.

Huddle Up: Funchess had a tough matchup last week but finished the game with 59 yards and a touchdown. He has been targeted at least seven times in four of the last five games and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver this week.

  • Posted: 12/13/2017 3:32pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) were listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Huddle Up: Funchess has exceled as the team's No. 1 receiver, emerging as a useful WR3 or flex fantasy option across the board in most formats. He has a nice matchup against the Packers, the league's 24th-ranked pass defense.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 2:08pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted three receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Huddle Up: Funchess has excelled as the team's No. 1 receiver since trading Kelvin Benjamin, totaling 405 receiving yards and four touchdowns over the past five outings. He is a solid WR3 in all fantasy formats heading into Week 15 against the Packers.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 8:57am ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 14 game.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been the No. 1 receiver for the Panthers this season but will have a very tough matchup this week against Minnesota Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes. He could be considered a No. 3 fantasy receiver this week.

  • Posted: 12/9/2017 8:47pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is listed as questionable to face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14, but he is expected to play, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Funchess faces a tough matchup in Week 14, but he has been excellent since Kelvin Benjamin was traded and can still be used as a WR3.

  • Posted: 12/8/2017 12:17pm ET

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 8, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Huddle Up: Funchess could be a game-time decision against the Minnesota Vikings, so owners should check the inactive list before deciding on their lineups. He will have a tough matchup if he plays but could still be at least a flex option on most leagues.

  • Posted: 12/7/2017 12:33pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been playing well recently with at least 85 yards in three of the last four games. He has been targeted at least six times in all but one game this season and should continue to be the No. 1 receiver. He likely will be covered by Minnesota Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes for most of the game, which pushes him down to a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 12/6/2017 3:01pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) was able to take part in a full practice session Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Huddle Up: Funchess should be good to go against the Vikings in Week 14. Despite the tough matchup, Funchess is the No. 1 receiver and he'll be a decent WR3 or flex fantasy option.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 8:20pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess caught four passes for 60 yards and a touchdown in a 31-21 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 13.

Huddle Up: Funchess continues to produce now that Kelvin Benjamin is in Buffalo. Consider him an upside WR3 moving forward.

  • Posted: 12/1/2017 3:21pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (toe) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 1, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 13 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Funchess is on target to play Sunday, and he'll be the No. 1 receiver again. He has filled the shoes of Kelvin Benjamin well and is a decent WR3 or flex fantasy option in most formats.

  • Posted: 11/30/2017 12:04pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (toe) was a full practice participant Thursday, Nov. 30.

Huddle Up: Funches has blossomed as Carolina's No. 1 wide receiver since Kelvin Benjamin was traded. Over his last three games Funchess has averaged 5.6 catches for 95.3 yards and has scored twice in that span. View him as a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2.

  • Posted: 11/26/2017 6:20pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted seven receptions for 108 yards in the Week 12 game against the New York Jets.

Huddle Up: It was just the second 100-yard game of Fun's career, and first since his rookie season when he had 120 yards in a game Jan. 3, 2015 against the Buccaneers. He is the No. 1 receiver in Charlotte now that Kelvin Benjamin is playing in Buffalo, and he is performing like it.

  • Posted: 11/13/2017 8:35pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess recorded five catches on six targets for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the team's Week 10 victory Monday, Nov. 13, against the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: Funchess is already locked in as Carolina's No. 1 wide receiver the rest of the way, but he could be looking at an even bigger workload if Curtis Samuel (ankle) ends up missing time after having to be helped to the locker room. Either way, Funchess is looking like a fun WR2 to deploy every weekend and could be a difference-maker in the fantasy playoffs.

  • Posted: 11/5/2017 2:20pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted five receptions for 86 yards on seven targets in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Huddle Up: Funchess was thrust into the No. 1 wideout job with Kelvin Benjamin dealt to the Buffalo Bills earlier in the week, and he the receiver handled himself well. However, he is still more of a WR3 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 10 against the Dolphins until he starts to score more consistently.

  • Posted: 10/29/2017 1:59pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess was limited to two receptions for 11 yards on six targets in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Funchess tied a season low with his two grabs, and his 11 yards were easily his worst of the year. After posting three scores in two games from Week 4-5, he appeared to be emerging as a reliable fantasy option. However, he is back to nothing more than a low-end WR4 or flex option heading into Week 9 against the Falcons.

  • Posted: 10/27/2017 4:32pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 27, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Huddle Up: Funchess has been a big part of the passing game over the last month and has been targeted at least eight times in each of the last five games. He can be a flex option in deeper leagues because of his current workload.

  • Posted: 10/26/2017 12:22pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 26.

Huddle Up: Funchess has become a big part of the team's passing game and has been targeted at least eight times in each of the last five games. He can be a flex option in deeper leagues this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • Posted: 10/25/2017 12:27pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Huddle Up: Funchess has seen plenty of targets this season -- he has more than Kelvin Benjamin. Cam Newton just seems to be less accurate when he's throwing Funchess' way. Even so, Funchess remains a solid WR2 option in a plus matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • Posted: 10/22/2017 2:52pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted four receptions for 41 yards on eight targets in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: Funchess has three or more receptions in each of his past six games, as he has really been involved on offense. Unfortunately, he has been held out of the end zone in each of the past two outings after scoring three times in two games. He remains a WR4 or flex option in PPR formats, with slightly lesser value in standard play heading into Week 8.

  • Posted: 10/11/2017 9:07am ET

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (knee) was able to participate in the team's walkthrough Wednesday, Oct. 11, and is expected to be able to play Thursday, Oct. 12, versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Funchess sat out Monday and Tuesday, but head coach Ron Rivera stated earlier in the week the receiver was likely to play. While participation in a walkthrough isn't the greatest of tests, it's a good sign he won't be limited. Against Philadelphia's burnable secondary, he is an upside WR3 play in Week 6.

  • Posted: 10/10/2017 11:55am ET

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (knee) is expected to be fine to play Thursday, Oct. 12, despite not practicing yet this week, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Huddle Up: Funchess is in the midst of his breakout season, but it remains to be seen if the knee issue will hamper him at all this week. He may be fine to play, but that doesn't mean he'll play well. Look for an update on his status tomorrow and play him as a WR3 or flex for now in a plus matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.

  • Posted: 10/9/2017 2:03pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (knee) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 9. The Panthers did not practice Monday, so this is an estimation.

Huddle Up: Funchess has recorded 14 receptions and three touchdowns over the last two games and appears to have a significant role in Carolina's passing game. He will have a favorable matchup this week and can be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 3:31pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted seven receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions. He was targeted eight times.

Huddle Up: Perhaps the Michigan native Funchess was playing with a little more oomph working near his hometown, and where he played his college ball at the University of Michigan. Or maybe he is stepping up his game and gaining more trust from Cam Newton. Fun has four or more receptions in each of his past four outings, and he has three visits to the end zone over the past two weeks. He has emerged as a reliable WR3 or flex play in PPR formats heading into Week 6 against the Eagles on Thursday night.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 4:08pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess caught seven passes for 70 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 33-30 win over the New England Patriots.

Huddle Up: Funchess limped off late in the fourth quarter. If he stays healthy Funchess could benefit from Cam Newton's resurgence, but stay tuned for further news on the health of Funchess in the next couple days.

  • Posted: 9/24/2017 1:38pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted four catches for 58 yards on 10 targets in Week 3 against New Orleans.

Huddle Up: Funchess stepped up his game and was used a lot more with Greg Olsen (foot) sidelined. The former Michigan standout led the wideouts in catches, yards and targets. Still, it was a rather mediocre performance and he should be treated only as a low-end WR4 or flex play heading into Week 4 at New England.

  • Posted: 9/17/2017 3:51pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted four catches for 68 yards on seven targets in Week 2 against Buffalo.

Huddle Up: Funchess picked up a little bit of the slack with one of Cam Newton's favorite targets, Greg Olsen, going down to a major foot injury. The receiver out of the University of Michigan should see an uptick in targets going forward. He is worth a look as a WR4 or WR5 in deeper leagues heading into Week 3 against New Orleans.

  • Posted: 9/10/2017 8:18pm ET

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess recorded two receptions for 20 yards on two targets in the Week 1 road win against the 49ers.

Huddle Up: Funchess is behind Greg Olsen and Kelvin Benjamin in the pecking order for receptions in Charlotte, and it now appears rookie Christian McCaffrey is well ahead of him, too. There's only so much football to go around. He'll be targeted a couple of times per game, but not enough to warrant much in the way of fantasy consideration as long as everyone is healthy.
