Huddle Up: Petty was unable to return to Week 16's game against the New England Patriots after being hurt in the second quarter. Ryan Fitzpatrick replaced him in the contest and will start Week 17 versus the Buffalo Bills if Petty's injury is deemed serious. Regardless of who is under center for the Jets next week, fantasy owners should avoid them.

Huddle Up: Ryan Fitzpatrick replaced Petty in Week 15's game following the injury, so he appears to be a more likely candidate to get the starting nod if Petty is unable to play than Christian Hackenberg. Regardless of who is under center for the Jets next week, they should not be viewed as a viable option in any fantasy format.

Huddle Up: Petty is still raw after playing college football in Baylor's no-huddle system. He doesn't need be owned in any season-long format, but he could be worth a roll of the dice as a cheap option in DFS games in Week 14 against San Francisco's terrible defense.

Huddle Up: Petty didn't do much in a relief role after replacing Ryan Fitzpatrick, but he entered with a lopsided score and he was cold. With a full week to prepare he should be better, but he is only worth a look in the very deepest of fantasy leagues requiring two starting signal callers.

Huddle Up: Petty has very little to work with in the passing game when defenses key on taking Brandon Marshall out of the game plan. Petty's touchdown pass went to Bilal Powell on a trick play where Marshall lateraled the ball to the running back for a 4-yard touchdown.

Huddle Up: Petty split first-team reps in practice with Ryan Fitzpatrick (knee) this week, so the fact that he was named the starting quarterback isn't terribly surprising. However, he should be avoided in all fantasy formats, especially considering that Los Angeles has the league's ninth-ranked pass defense.

Huddle Up: If Petty gets the start he isn't a recommended fantasy option, or even a low-priced DFS play, as he would be facing the league's ninth-ranked pass defense in an unfavorable matchup. Avoid.

Huddle Up: The 2015 fourth-round pick remains a work in progress, but he projects to be backup behind Geno Smith with Ryan Fitzpatrick still unsigned.
