Lions RB Zach Zenner finished with 334 yards on 88 carries for the year and a team-high four rushing touchdowns, leading the team in rushing the last three weeks of the season. Even though Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick are expected to be completely healthy by the start of 2017, WR Anquan Boldin said in a recent interview Zenner could handle a growing role. 'I think he's a guy that definitely will take the next step next year. ? Whenever you have a young guy like that who is able to play every down, that's big. He's a guy that can run the ball effectively, catch the ball out of the backfield, he can pick up blitzes,' Boldin said.

Huddle Up: Abdullah should remain the odds-on favorite to open camp as the starter. However, Zenner flashed enough ability as a runner and receiver down the stretch to be used to be used in tandem with him if Detroit chooses to do so. Riddick should return to his usual role of 'space back'. Abdullah and Riddick should be considered low-end RB2 options next season, while Zenner can be considered a valuable handcuff.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner credits his recent success to his consistent preparation throughout the year, and he said he plans to make the most of every opportunity he is given.

Huddle Up: Zenner draws a tough matchup against Seattle to open the playoffs, but as long as he is the featured back, he will see enough touches to remain a quality RB2.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner played 64 of the 66 offensive snaps against the Green Bay Packers in Week 17, and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said Zenner is in 'phenomenal shape' and is open to keeping Zenner in an every-down role moving forward.

Huddle Up: At the very least, it should be Zenner's backfield for the playoff game against Seattle, making him a volume-based RB2 in DFS games.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner rushed 12 times for 67 yards with two touchdowns in the Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys Monday, Dec. 26. He also hauled in two receptions for 25 yards on three targets.

Huddle Up: Zenner was matching NFL rushing leader Ezekiel Elliott yard for yard through a good chunk of the game, and he also matched the super rookie in touchdowns, too. Zenner could be a nice sleeper heading into Week 17 for leagues that play into the final week of the regular season.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner rushed seven times for 36 yards in the Week 14 game against the Chicago Bears and he added two catches for nine yards on his two targets.

Huddle Up: Zenner had nine touches to 17 for Dwayne Washington. He is only worth a look as a flex fantasy option in deeper leagues heading into Week 15.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner carried 14 times for 58 yards in the Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Rams, and he added two receptions for 19 yards on two targets.

Huddle Up: Zenner picked up the slack with DeAndre Washington and Theo Riddick sidelined. If he is leaned upon in Week 7 against Washington, he might be a decent bye-week replacement if you need RB help.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner (rib, lung) is expected to receive plenty of carries this preseason to prove he is physically recovered from last year's injuries and ready to handle live tackling.

Huddle Up: With Joique Bell now gone, Theo Riddick still more of pass-catcher and questions lingering about how much of a load projected starter Ameer Abdullah can truly shoulder, Zenner looks to be in line for under-the-radar healthy dose of carries if he can show he's up to the task early in camp.

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner (ribs, lung) has appeared to be fully recovered from his rib and lung injuries last season.

Huddle Up: There is a definite role for Zenner in the Detroit backfield. He flashed last preseason and could make a run at a chunk of the carries this August as well.
