2007 Outlook

After five seasons in Seattle filled with little more than unrealized potential and more than a few legal and team “situations". Stevens was cut loose and picked up by the Buccaneers who signed him to a one-year contract worth around $600,000 – not exactly coughing up the big bucks to acquire his services. Stevens had his best season in 2005 when he recorded 45 catches for 554 yards and five scores but he halved that in an injury shortened 2006 season when he tore his meniscus and only played in 11 games.

Stevens has the measureables since he is reasonably fast, stands 6’7" and weighs 265 but his downfall has been his run-ins with the law and the team, a propensity to drop passes and generally a failure to put in the work to realize what his potential is considered to be. The Buccaneers will throw to their tight ends and it could happen here, but the risk is too high and the team already has Alex Smith. Leave Stevens for someone else.

Recent Priority News

06/05/08
Tampa Bay starting tight end Jerramy Stevens has been suspended by the NFL for the first two games of the regular season for violating the substance abuse policy.
Huddle Up: Fantasy owners should expect Alex Smith to be the starting tight end for Tampa Bay the first part of the season since it is likely that it will take a some time for Stevens to get ready to play once he returns from suspension. Fantasy owners should find better options than any Tampa Bay tight ends if at all possible.

04/29/07
Jerramy Stevens has been signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after several run-ins with the law prompted the Seahawks to release him. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: The Bucs were initially rumored to be in the running for Calvin Johnson but lost out when the Lions took him. The draft proved to be almost entirely focused on defense and only a seventh round running back (Kenneth Darby) was taken as an offensive skill position player. Now the only change from last year for the Bucs will be the addition of Jeff Garcia and the troubled/underperforming tight end Stevens.

10/20/06
Seahawk TE Jerramy Stevens said if he can get through practice today without any further problems with his left knee, he should finally make his season debut on Sunday against the Vikings.
Huddle Up: Tread lightly here. He was a late scratch against the Rams because his knee didn't feel right. He's probably a good play against the Vikings because Seattle will have to throw more, but don't put him in your lineup unless you're 100 percent sure he's going to play.

10/18/06
Seattle TE Jerramy Stevens (knee) is expected to play on Sunday when the Seahawks host Minnesota. Stevens was expected to play in Week 6, but he was held out after he experienced discomfort in his knee on Saturday.
Huddle Up: It appears that fantasy owners who've been waiting on Stevens can feel confident starting him this week. Stevens is a top-10 or -15 fantasy TE when he's healthy, but he hasn't played since the Super Bowl. Fantasy owners with comparable options may want to lean in the other direction until after Stevens gets a game under his belt.

09/07/06
Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens (knee) has been listed as Out for week one's game against the Detroit Lions.

08/18/06
An MRI has revealed that Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens has a torn meniscus and is expected to miss six weeks to recuperate. This is the same knee that received surgery just last April.
Huddle Up: Bad news for Stevens and one less veteran target for Matt Hasselbeck. Stevens was already likely to be limited this year and with this most recent injury, he's not worth drafting this season.
