2007 Outlook

After a career best 2004 season with 1247 yards and 11 touchdowns, Bennett reverted to the same production expected from him. His final two seasons in Tennessee posted 738 and 737 yards with four and three touchdowns scored. Hardly the stuff of a #1 wideout but the Titans’ passing struggles were well known since Bennett had almost no help from being heavily covered every play. Now with the Rams, he signed a six-year deal worth around $30 million. With Bruce hitting 35 years of age in 2007, Bennett is destined to be the new flanker sooner than later. He’ll likely split time with Bruce as the season progresses but should be entrenched as the starter as early as 2008 if not be the end of this season.

Recent Priority News

10/13/08
St. Louis Rams WR Drew Bennett (foot) will miss another week or two because of the metatarsal fracture of his right foot. Bennett has missed the past four games.
Huddle Up: He hasn't been too much of a threat when healthy, no reason to expect he will be much when he returns, with Avery coming on as he has. If you're one of the few owners holding him on your roster, you really may want to be looking for elsewhere rather than expecting a miracle.

09/08/08
St. Louis Rams WR Drew Bennett (foot) will miss at least one month with a metatarsal fracture of his right foot.
Huddle Up: For the few owners who drafted Bennett this means you have a hole on your roster to fill. For the rest of the fantasy community this means just a bit more than nothing.

09/07/08
CBSSports.com reports St. Louis Rams WR Drew Bennett (knee) left the team's Week 1 game with an apparent knee injury. He was able to limp off the field, but was carted to the locker room.
Huddle Up: Another knee injury. Bennett's value had fallen much since early last year when he was a hot commodity, but it is still worth knowing his status. As it is, the Rams offense looked pretty pathetic in week one, and there is no guarantee it is going to look any better soon.

08/25/08
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports St. Louis Rams WR Drew Bennett (groin) left the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 23, in the first quarter with a groin injury.
Huddle Up: Bennett is another receiver that is in line to have a nice year in a revitalized St. Louis offense. He is a common sleeper pick for a lot of fantasy football owners and is projected to line up opposite star wideout Torry Holt for the Rams. With Bennett going out with a groin injury this could definately limit his performance as the season approaches as this type of injury tends to linger for some time before getting better. Bennett should be considered a low end No. 3 fantasy receiver with upside and worth a pick in the middle rounds of your fantasy draft, just don't expect as much from him as you did before his injury.

06/17/08
Mike Sando, of ESPN.com, reports St. Louis Rams WR Drew Bennett will likely take over the team's No. 2 receiver spot this season.
Huddle Up: Bennett, the 6'5" 206 pound receiver from UCLA, is in his eighth year in the league. He underachieved in 2007 (33 receptions for 375 yards and 3 touchdowns) but the whole Rams offense struggled mainly because of an injured Marc Bulger and a pourous offensive line also decimated with injuries. If Bulger can return to form and stay healthy, Bennett could be a nice sleeper candidate for a St. Louis offense that is on the rise in 2008.

09/08/07
St. Louis wide receiver Drew Bennett is listed as questionable for the Rams opening game Sunday. Bennett, who was acquired in the offseason to bolster the aging receiving corp for the team, has been nursing a quadriceps injury while being limited in practice.
Huddle Up: Bennett will likely be a gametime decision according to statements by Coach Linehan so keep Bennett out of your fantasy teams starting lineup and play other options until the picture becomes clearer.
