2007 Outlook

The third year wideout had a breakout season of sorts in 2006 when he beat out Justin McCareins for the starting job and then turned in an impressive 82 catches for 961 yards and six touchdowns. He only had three games with 99 or more yards last year but was good for around 50 yards in all but three efforts last season with the occasional good game to reward teams using him as a #3 fantasy wideout. Cotchery has proven to be everything that Justin McCareins was supposed to be – a solid complement to Coles that can offer solid production in games and has enough big weeks to make him rate as one of the better #2 wideouts in the league. Since Cotchery only had 25 career catches prior to 2006, his outlook for this year should be no less than a good 2006 campaign and could be at least a little better.

Recent Priority News

12/01/07
Jerricho Cotchery may be lost for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his broken right index finger. With only four games remaining, his recovery time will likely keep him out too long to consider keeping him on the active roster. Cotchery broke the finger in practice on Monday.
Huddle Up: Tough break for the Jets who were already short on playmakers on offense anyway. His absence will give both Brad Smith and Justin McCareins more playing time.

09/22/07
Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins with a shoulder injury sustained in Week 2 against Baltimore. Cotchery has been limited in practice this week but has participated in receiving drills.
Huddle Up: Fantasy owners should check Cotchery's status on Sunday leading up to the game before starting him against Miami. He has looked good so far this season and should be used when healthy as a No. 2 wideout in all fantasy leagues.
