2007 Outlook
Wade came over to the Vikings after two seasons in both Chicago and Tennessee. He has never had more than 481 yards in any season and 2006 was the first time he caught an NFL touchdown. He’s expected to become the starting slot receiver and almost has to be an upgrade since no receiver in Minnesota has distinguished themselves. Wade brings good speed and some much needed experience to the wideouts, but he won’t likely have enough fantasy value to merit owning – there is just very little upside here.
Recent Priority News
11/03/07
Bobby Wade was held out for the first two days of practice to rest his hyperextended knee and returned on Friday for only limited work. He is a game time decision this week.
Huddle Up: The Vikings will be hurting for wideouts this week and the return of Tarvaris Jackson as the starting quarterback was no help in the first place. Stay away from the Vikings passing game every week and especially this one.
11/04/06
Titans WR Bobby Wade has returned to the practice field and expects to play this weekend when the Titans take on the Jaguars. The 4-year player from Arizona is being used as the Titans third receiver. He is returning from a left seperated shoulder injury. "I'll be ready to play on Sunday. It's a little bit painful, but I should be all right. I separated my AC joint, and obviously when you do that, you tear those two tendons in there," said Wade.
Huddle Up: Fantasy owners should not use Wade at all this week since he is returning from an injury. Consider the receiver a No. 3 or No. 4 wideout when healthy and should only be used in the right matchups at this point.
12/16/05
The Chicago Bears have released fumble-prone Bobby Wade who had fumbled or muffed nine punts this season. The Tennessee Titans quickly grabbed Wade as soon as he was available to help replace the rookies Brandon Jones and Roydell Williams who are out for the rest of the season.
Huddle Up: The Titans were paper-thin at wideout with the injuries to Jones and Williams. Wade should see some playing time but the Titans offense has not made much use of any wideout this season, much less a new one that has trouble holding onto the ball. HC Jeff Fisher already has said that Wade will not be active this week.
08/27/04
Wade is taking over the flanker spot from the traded Marty Booker, but lower your expectations of his production. "The Z is not a long-legged player in our offense," OC Terry Shea said. "The Z has to go in motion a lot, he's got to come out of motion." Shea said he doesn't look at the wide receivers as two starters and three backups, but rather "five rotating players." Four of them are set in Terrell, Wade, Gage and rookie Bernard Berrian.
Huddle Up: The Bears are using the KC-style offense this year and that means receivers will not be used in Chicago as they have in years past. "The balance of our offense is that everybody gets a chance to touch the ball, rather than run-pass ratio," said Shea, whose scheme had 12 players catch passes in the first preseason game and 11 in the second game. That may move the Chicago offense along, but choosing just one probably will have much lesser results for your fantasy team.
