2007 Outlook

Wayne ended his sixth season in the NFL last year and had career high receptions (86) and receiving yardage (1310) to rank 9th and 4th in those categories for 2006. He’s been consistently good for the last three years and has never missed a game. With Peyton Manning under center, Wayne is a lock for a 1000+ yard season and it is his touchdown scoring that wavers each year. He split the difference with nine scores last season but had five in 2005 and 12 in 2004. Like Harrison, Wayne is always a solid draft pick with the promise of returning to his 12 touchdown ways. The worst you get is still top ten.

Recent Priority News

12/03/07
Indianapolis WR Reggie Wayne continued his spectacular play this weekend against division-rival Jacksonville as the Colts held on for a 28-25 victory over the Jaguars. Wayne was a big part of the game hauling in 8 passes for 158 yards including a 48-yard touchdown in the opening quarter of play.
Huddle Up: Wayne has really stepped up for the Colts this season with the loss of perennial Pro-Bowl receiver Marvin Harrison. Indianapolis will continue to utilize Wayne for the remainder of the season as the Colts primary target. Wayne could play an even bigger role in the weeks to come if Indy can get Harrison back on the field leading up to the NFL playoffs.

11/12/07
Despite being without WR Marvin Harrison in the lineup, Reggie Wayne still led the way for receivers in Week 10 hauling in 10 passes for 140 yards and 1 touchdown in a 23-21 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Huddle Up: There has obviously been a changing of the guard in Indianapolis as Wayne appears to be the primary target going forward for the Colts and Harrison the No. 2. Fantasy owners should expect the same even when Harrison returns from his injury which should make the going even easier for Wayne in the weeks to come.

10/30/06
WR Reggie Wayne seemed to be the only receiver that Peyton Manning had eyes for on Sunday as the Colts beat the Broncos 34-31 in dramatic fashion. Wayne led all receivers in the game with 10 catches for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns. Darrent Williams was in coverage on Reggie Wayne most of the day and appeared to be giving him to much of a cushion which led to most of the catches he had in the second half. "I am not going to apologize to him," Wayne said. "I'm going to work just like he's going to work. When I'm out there, I just refuse to lose no matter who is on the other side of me. Like I said, my number was called today and he was on me."
Huddle Up: Wayne is a low-end No. 1 or solid No. 2 receiver for fantasy teams. If you have Wayne you should be starting him each week since he is a top target on the most prolific offense in the NFL.

09/28/06
Reggie Wayne is expected to return to Indianapolis today after spending several days in Kenner, Louisiana due to the sudden death of his brother in a traffic accident. He is expected to play this weekend according to HC Tony Dungy.
Huddle Up: The tragic death of his brother could either prompt Wayne to play even better or could naturally affect his preparation for the game. He'll be a certain start in fantasy leagues this week but his level of play will be in question.

09/26/06
Indianapolis WR Reggie Wayne might miss the Colts' road game against the Jets as he is with his family in Louisiana dealing with the loss of his brother, Rashad, who was killed in an automobile accident on Sunday.
Huddle Up: Wayne's status for Sunday's game appears to be nothing more than idle speculation at this time. Simply put, his return date is unknown, and hopefully he doesn't feel any pressure to rush back too soon. Fantasy owners would be wise to prepare for life without Wayne for at least one week.

02/22/06
The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to terms with Reggie Wayne according to FoxSports on a six-year contract worth nearly $40 million that had a signing bonus of $13.5 million. It was expected that Wayne would receive the franchise tag if no deal was made by the March 3rd deadline when free agency begins.
Huddle Up: Now it remains to be seen if that franchise tag ends up on Edgerrin James again this year, though that move will cost the team an estimated $10 million for 2006.
