2007 Outlook
Williams was a first round pick in 2004 and while he has started much more slowly than desired, he has improved each season and ended 2006 with 52 catches for 616 yards and four touchdowns. The new offense brought in by OC Dirk Koetter should help Williams who will play the possession role since it should stretch the field and allow him to work the middle. The scheme also calls for more two tight end sets to help the running game and that’s just one slot receiver less to catch passes on those plays. Williams has never been great at scoring with just five career touchdowns and he’s no long-ball receiver either since his yards per catch has never been higher than 12.7, but he can fill a valuable possession role with yards and catches.
Recent Priority News
10/30/08
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Reggie Williams (hamstring) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 30.
Huddle Up: With Williams dinged and Mike Walker still battling an infection, expect the Jaguars to target Matt Jones even more this week against the Bengals. They need to get as much out of him as they can get before he's suspended for his preseason drug arrest.
10/28/08
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Reggie Williams caught his first touchdown pass of the season in the team's Week 8 game. He caught 10 touchdowns last season.
Huddle Up: Williams is another Jaguar receiver whose opportunities will increase significantly when Matt Jones is suspended.
09/12/08
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Reggie Williams (hamstring) practiced Thursday, Sept. 11, and he is no longer listed on the team's injury report. He will play in the team's Week 2 game.
Huddle Up: Finally, some positive news for the injury-ravaged Jaguars. Perhaps a healthy Williams can contribute more than the two catches he delivered in the season-opening loss to Tennessee.
09/04/08
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Reggie Williams (hamstring) returned to the teams practice Thursday, Sept. 4.
Huddle Up: This is key to note primarily due to William's high touchdown numbers last year. He is clearly Garard's favorite target in the end zone, so he's worth having, especially in touchdown heavy scoring systems.

Arthroscopic Knee Surgery - Jaguars' WR Reggie Williams is still at least a week away from making his return after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on July 30 to repair cartilage damage in his knee. Williams originally injured his knee prior to the start of training camp and was placed on the team's active PUP list when camp began. He was activated and cleared to practice on July 29 but he reinjured his knee on the same day and had to be carted off the field. An MRI that evening revealed cartilage damage and the medical staff determined that the best course of action was to surgically repair it. Head coach Jack Del Rio said right after the procedure that the team expected Williams back in two to three weeks. There has been speculation that Williams might not be back until early September, but if initial timetable is accurate he could resume practicing by the end of the week.
07/31/08
The Associated Press reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Reggie Williams (knee) injured his right knee during training camp. He originally injured it and started camp on the PUP, but was activated Tuesday, July 29. During the evening working Tuesday, Williams tweaked his knee again and has cartilage damage. He is expected to make a full recovery from pending arthroscopic knee surgery but he has not disclosed a timetable for his return.
Huddle Up: It is unclear how long Williams will be out due to the surgery on his knee. Jacksonville will now turn to Jerry Porter, Dennis Northcutt and Troy Williamson. During the offseason Williamson has been catching alot of attention and could surprise in an increased role this season. Also, No. 1 receiver Jerry Porter has had his own injury troubles and could miss time leading up to the start of the regular season. The Jaguars will be looking for consistency in its passing offense this year but it appears that once again they will be in a state of flux at least early in the season.
