Prediction: DEN 13, TEN 23

Update: Knowshon Moreno remains out with his hamstring injury and has not practiced.

The Broncos head out on their second road trip and that loss in Jacksonville in the season opener is now looking even more embarrassing. The Titans come off a solid win in New York over the Giants and should take care of business here at home.

Pregame Notes: The Broncos are looking at a very tough three game stretch with road games to Tennessee and Baltimore followed by hosting the Jets. The season is starting to shape up as the reverse of 2009 assuming that the easier schedule after the midpoint can result in a string of wins. The passing game has remained productive in yardage but the rushing attack has been nothing short of terrible even with Laurence Maroney on board.

QUARTERBACK: Kyle Orton comes off a career best 476 passing yards but only scored once against the visiting Colts. He has yet to throw for fewer than 295 yards but only has four scores on the season. Orton has been able to move the offense, just not score nearly enough.

The Titans pass defense is much improved for 2010 and has allowed only one passing score. But the Titans also started out against Jason Campbell and Charlie Batch too so it isn't as hard to believe. Manning was held to no scores but threw for 386 yards last Sunday. Look for one score and healthy yardage here from Orton.

RUNNING BACKS: The Broncos have three rushing scores on the season but never more than 60 rush yards by any runner. Knowshon Moreno was out last week with a hamstring injury and newly acquired Laurence Maroney proved why he was expendable in New England. He only gained 24 yards on 12 carries and failed to score a touchdown with thee attempts inside the five yard line. There would be marginal fantasy value here if only one back was used but Correll Buckhalter is mixed in just to ensure low production. Maroney salvaged his value against the Colts by catching two passes for 40 yards but that's not going to happen every week. Buckhalter takes most of the receptions as well.

The Titans have been solid against the run and allowed only one rushing score on the season. With the split workload and being a road game, expect marginal output here at best.

WIDE RECEIVERS: This has been an ever-changing situation with which receiver will have a big game. Demaryius Thomas was the man in week two but then injured his wrist Sunday and only produced 43 yards on two receptions. After two weeks of nearly no work, Jabbar Gaffney was likely dropped in many leagues and so naturally shows up with 12 receptions for 140 while Eddie Royal goes from two weeks of nice production to only 23 yards on four catches. Brandon Lloyd came up with six receptions for 169 yards and one score.

This unit is pumping out fantasy value but never in a consistent way. All four wideouts have turned in at least one or two big games. None of them have been there every week. I will project for them all until it shakes out differently but the reliability of the individual receivers is not great. The Titans have also not allowed a passing score to a wideout this season so there is little confidence on which player here will be the one to score. Consider each most likely for moderate yardage and no score.

Thomas is not expected to be limited with his wrist but there will be updates if that changes.

TIGHT ENDS: No fantasy value.

Titans Report | Statistics | Roster
TENNESSEE vs DEN Rush Catch Pass
QB Vince Young 20 - 150,1
RB Chris Johnson 110,1 - -
TE Bo Scaife - 30 -
WR Justin Gage - 20 -
WR Nate Washington - 50 -
WR Kenny Britt - 30,1 -
PK Rob Bironas 3 FG 2 XP -

Pregame Notes: Aside from the loss to the Steelers that saw Vince Young grab the bench, the TItans have been very good this year and come off a nice thumping of the Giants. The defense has answered the call every week and will once again lead the way on Sunday. Chris Johnson is back on his 100 yard streak and Vince Young is a winning quarterback again. With several tougher matchups looming before the week nine bye, the Titans need to grab this win.

QUARTERBACK: After being benched against the Steelers, Vince Young was back to form when he completed 10 of 16 for 118 yards and one score with no turnovers in New York. The bottom line here will always be about pounding Chris Johnson until he breaks a long touchdown and throwing only when absolutely needed.

The Broncos offer a defense that has been #1 against running backs and soft against the pass excepting whoever Champ Bailey covers. Every opponent manages at least one passing score on them so look for just a standard game from Young.

RUNNING BACKS: As always, the Titans talk about getting a lighter workload for Chris Johnson and then when it comes down to calling plays, Johnson has a game like in New York when he rushed 32 times for 125 yards and two scores. They even used him at the goal line. Javon Ringer has been a very productive player when used but the Titans cannot stop themselves from relying heavily on perhaps the best running back in the league. Go figure.

The Broncos have been outstanding against the run though on the road they allowed 98 yards to Maurice Jones-Drew for a season high. No reason to expect less than the 100 + TD that Johnson routinely creates. The Broncos should hold him from having a blow up monster afternoon but Johnson will get the work until he is successful.

WIDE RECEIVERS: Minimal passing yardage means the wideouts here are languishing in obscurity. Kenny Britt finally had a touchdown last Sunday but only two catches for 26 yards. Nate Washington has been the most consistent with two scores but finally had a bad game with only 30 yards on three catches. Justin Gage has been nothing special and now draws Champ Bailey. The one passing touchdown will end up in this unit and not with Gage. It has been favoring slot receivers against the Broncos so I will credit Britt once again but the confidence level is low.

TIGHT ENDS: Bo Scaife has yet to have more than three catches in a game or over 37 yards but he did score in week one. He has almost no fantasy value.
