Tom Brady, NE – Foot Surgery
Patriots’ QB Tom Brady, who had a screw surgically inserted into his foot in January to help a stress fracture heal, has made a full recovery and he should be ready for the start of training camp. According to reports Brady has participated in several player-organized workouts and he appeared to be fine. In a recent interview he indicated that he has been 100% for quite some time and that his foot would be a non-issue when the regular season begins.
Peyton Manning, IND - Neck Surgery
Recent reports suggesting that Colts’ QB Peyton Manning could miss the start of training camp might make you think twice about drafting him. But sources close to the situation have informed The Huddle that he is recovering well from neck surgery and that he will be 100% in time for Week 1 of the regular season. Manning, who had surgery to alleviate a pinched nerve in his neck last year, began complaining of neck pain at the end of last season and an MRI early in the off-season revealed a bulging cervical disc. Manning was told very early on that surgery was probably going to be needed but he decided to explore alternative, non-surgical methods. Unfortunately nothing worked and he was forced to undergo what was reported as a “minimally invasive” surgical procedure in May and he was told his recovery would take 6 - 8 weeks. Manning indicated that his inability to rehab with the Colts’ medical staff because of the lockout has prevented him from recovering quickly. But according to recent reports he is close to 100% and he should be fine come Week 1. So why is there so much concern? Well, he has had 2 neck surgeries in a span a 15 months. However the most recent surgery is unrelated to procedure he underwent last year, so in reality there is nothing to be worried about.
