|Jonathan Stewart is dealing with a lingering Achilles' injury that will limit his action.
David Garrard, JAC - Chronic Lower Back Tightness
Jaguars’ QB David Garrard, who continues to deal with tightness in his lower back, has returned to practice. However rookie Blaine Gabbert has seen an increase in practice time with the first-team offense and according to reports Garrard is no longer a lock to begin the regular season in the starting lineup. Garrard missed the team’s first preseason game with back problems and although he has returned to practice his reps have been limited and he continues to receive treatment on his back. Garrard recently indicated that he has dealt with lower back issues for some time now but he has found a way to deal with it. Team officials expect him to play in tonight’s preseason game against the Falcons.
Shonn Greene, NYJ - Foot Infection
Jets’ RB Shonn Greene will not play in this weekend’s preseason game against the Bengals because he is currently dealing with skin infection on his right foot. According to reports Greene did not practice on Thursday because of what the team has described as a low-grade skin infection. The medical staff isn’t sure what kind of infection it is, but it is not considered serious. He will be held out of action until sometime next week and team officials are hoping that he can return to the field before their third pre-season game.
Jonathan Stewart, CAR - Achilles’ Tendonitis
Panthers’ RB Jonathan Stewart , who has dealt with inflammation in his Achilles’ tendon for several years, reportedly aggravated his leg in practice and he hasn’t practiced this week as a result. Stewart had surgery on the same Achilles’ tendon last off-season and he told reporters at the start of training camp that he was in the best shape of his NFL career. But coach Ron Rivera told reporters on Wednesday that Stewart reinjured his Achilles’ and that he wasn’t sure when he would be able to return to practice. Although he hasn’t been officially ruled out, don’t expect him to play in their next preseason game.
