Matthew Stafford, Lions –
Stafford carried over his blistering preseason into Week 1, torching the Bucs for 305 and three. It's becoming obvious that, when healthy, Stafford has top-10 QB talent. Of course, him limping off twice late in the Tampa game had his fantasy owners pulling at what's left of their hair. Relax, it was only cramps... this time.
Cam Newton, Panthers –
The rushing touchdown was expected, but no one saw the record-shattering passing performance coming. Carolina's game plan plays to Newton's strengths, and he delivered in a big way. Now, can he do it against a legit NFL defense and/or come up with the extra yard necessary to win a game?
Rex Grossman, Redskins –
Really, Mike Shanahan; you were toying with John Beck over Rexy? Grossman gets a bad rap, and there's little doubt he'll have a mistake-laden game in the very near future that exemplifies why that rap exists. But until then he seems very comfortable running this offense..
Matt Cassel, Chiefs –
Does he miss Charlie Weis that much already? The Chiefs look lost, and what success they eventually will have will likely come on the ground. Cassel was at best a fringe starter; now he's clinging to a roster spot in two-QB leagues.
Donovan McNabb, Vikings –
Maybe it's overreacting, but look at it this way: McNabb is on pace to match Tom Brady's Monday night exploits... by Week 14. Maybe. And that's cumulative, folks. Minnesota's game plan needs some tweaks, and the offensive line needs some help.. |
