IDP Game Breakdowns Tackle Statistics: Week 6
Steve Gallo
October 12, 2011

This is part 1 in the weekly IDP Game Breakdown series. The reference chart below lists each team’s average tackle opportunities (TOs) given up, average solo tackles given up, average assists given up, average tackle opportunities faced, average solo tackles  logged/game, average assists logged/game, defensive scheme, and defensive coordinator.

The two tackle opportunities statistics in the reference chart are color coded to identify tackle opportunities that are average (highlighted in yellow), below average (highlighted in red) & above average (highlighted in green). Tackle opportunities are based on this year's stats.  Basically, if your LB is facing a RED team then it isn't a good matchup, conversely a GREEN team would be a good matchup.  The historical average for TOs is 50 (highlighted in yellow), anything 49 or less will be in red and anything above 51 will be in green.  Below the reference chart are key matchups, thought to be the best and worst of the week.

Average solo tackles and assisted tackles given up and recorded adds a bit of perspective by allowing users to see how teams are taking advantage of the tackle opportunities that they are facing.

Tackle opportunities are described as rushing attempts & pass completions faced plus sacks given up.

Average tackle opportunity stats are derived from data provided by NFLData.com.
