Carson Palmer, RaidersMoving Up
The big news at the trade deadline was the Raiders' acquisition of Palmer to replace the injured Jason Campbell. Just how rusty will he be? There's plenty of upside here, but until he gets to the field it's all still speculative.

Christian Ponder, VikingsMoving Up
The other major quarterback move sees the Vikings going to the bullpen for their first-round pick. He looked alright in an appetizer Sunday night against Chicago; now he'll get the Packers at home. On the bright side, he can get out of the way faster than Donovan McNabb.

Curtis Painter, ColtsMoving Down
After a nice little mini-run in which he flashed a little bit of hope for the Indy offense, Painter struggled against a pretty good defense--solidifying his status as a match-up play at best.

I do chuckle at Palmer being ranked higher than 10 QBs who have actually played this year. ...what does that say about those 10 guys?

Tebow is so magic, he's ranked 21 but he's ahead of 19 and 20. The kid's a winner.

there's upside to carson palmer? unless it's 2005, there's nothing in the past 5 years to suggest palmer is anything but overpriced toast. he's not going to be any better than campbell, but he may be worse. i do like the trade b/c anything is better than boller for OAK, but OAK gave up way too much for a QB that won't even sniff the top 20 in the league.
