Prediction: PHI 13, NYG 27

Players to Watch: Vince Young

The Giants lost in San Francisco but still remain alone on top of the NFC East with a 6-3 record. They are 3-1 in home games and the Eagles are 3-6 with a 2-2 toad mark. This is a second meeting for these teams. The Giants won 29-16 in week three this season in Philadelphia. This time the Eagles are on the road and likely without a couple key players.

PHILADELPHIA at NYG Rush Catch Pass
QB Vince Young - - 200
RB LeSean McCoy 80,1 20 -
TE Brent Celek - 40 -
WR DeSean Jackson - 40 -
WR Jason Avant - 60 -
WR Steve Smith - 30 -
PK Alex Henery 2 FG 1 XP -
Pregame Notes: The loss to the visiting Cardinals is about as low as it gets for the Eagles who incurred further injury to both Michael Vick and Jeremy Maclin. The Eagles are already out of the playoff race and are going to struggle to even make this season look respectable with future games of NE, @SEA, NYJ and @DAL. CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie tore ligaments in his ankle last week and will miss at least a month. The consensus is that the defensive coordinator Juan Castillo is in over his head and that Vick has the "I got paid" disease.

QUARTERBACK: Michael Vick broke two ribs last week and while HC Andy Reid has not ruled him out this week, the expectation is that Vince Young will get his first start. Vick only passed for 176 yards and no scores in the last meeting and this time Jeremy Maclin may not play. The Giants have only allowed five passing scores in the five home games so far so figure even one touchdown by Young would be success enough - Vick could not do it at home against them.

Updates as warranted.

RUNNING BACKS: The lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal season has been LeSean McCoy who has set a franchise record for consecutive games with a touchdown and has yet to not score in every game. He rushed in ten touchdowns and added two more via receptions. In the previous meeting with the Giants, he rushed for 128 yards and one score and added three catches for 13 yards.

The Giants are still weak against the run and McCoy has been a guaranteed score every week. He is a must start even in this game.

WIDE RECEIVERS: Master negotiator DeSean Jackson wants a new contract and to show his displeasure in not yet cashing in, he skipped a special teams meeting. And so on Sunday, he was benched. HC Andy Reid still insists that Jackson is the starter and DeSean addressed the team no doubt directed by his agent. It is important to get Jackson back since Jeremy Maclin sprained the AC joint in his shoulder and pulled his hamstring and is no lock to play this week. I will assume he cannot and update as needed. Steve Smith would see more work as he did last week when he caught a season high five passes for 47 yards.

This unit was not doing well before and Maclin led the crew with 69 yards and no score in the previous meeting with the Giants. Now that Vince Young may play (or a battered Vick), the outlook is no more appealing.

TIGHT ENDS: Brent Celek was on a four game hot streak with 50+ yards and a couple of scores but if Vick doesn't play, Celek's role becomes less clear. Young has certainly used tight ends in his past but the risk is higher than the likely reward. Celek only caught two passes for nine yards total in the previous meeting.

Pregame Notes: The loss in San Francisco hurt but the Giants are going to have to figure out how to win those games if they have any designs of playing in January. This week should be an easier win but then comes @NO, GB, @DAL , @NYJ and DAL to end the year. The only other "soft" game is when the Skins show up in week 15. This week could be a trap game but the Eagles have been a problem long enough that the Giants won't get caught looking ahead.

QUARTERBACK: Eli Manning has been on a nice streak all year with two or more scores per game and he passed for a season best four touchdowns on the visiting Eagles in week three. Manning passed for 254 yards that week with no turnovers. At home he has been a near lock for 250+ yards and two touchdowns.

The Eagles match up to that and have already allowed the four scores last time. Expect no less than two touchdowns and healthy yardage in a game that might get big since tiebreakers could come into play at the end of the season.

RUNNING BACKS: Ahmad Bradshaw remains out with his foot injury but has not been officially counted out yet because HC Tom Coughlin hopes he can practice this week. But Bradshaw has not practiced for two weeks and is less likely to play in this game. Updates as warranted. Bradshaw rushed for 86 yards on 15 carries and scored during his five receptions for 53 yards in the previous meeting with the Eagles.

Brandon Jacobs has replaced Bradshaw for two games and had 18 runs for 72 yards and a score in New England and then 18 runs for 55 yards in San Francisco. This would be the easiest start yet for Jacobs against a defense that had allowed eight touchdowns to the position and about six 90+ yard efforts by running backs this year.

This should be a good game for Jacobs - this will probably be as good as it gets for the remainder of the season.

WIDE RECEIVERS: Hakeem Nicks was able to play last week after being a game time decision and scored once on his two catches for 47 yards in San Francisco. Nicks only had three catches for 25 yards in the previous meeting with the Eagles and Mario Manningham did not play that week. In his place, Victor Cruz turned in three catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Now Manningham is healthy and scored in each of the last three games. All three players are decent starts this week particularly if Ahmad Bradshaw does not play. The Eagles are down one cornerback coming into this week anyway.

TIGHT ENDS:Jake Ballard has become a much bigger part of the game plan since week three when he only had one catch for 15 yards in Philadelphia. But the Eagles have been better against tight ends anyway and the Giants can use the wideouts in this game. Only three tight ends have scored on the Eagles so far and only two players had more than 45 yards against them.
