Prediction: IND 10, NE 45

Update: Joseph Addai was added to the injury report on Friday and was held out of practice after re-aggravating his hamstring injury. He is not a lock to play this week and will share heavily with Donald Brown even if he plays. Consider Addai as too risky this week thanks to the late injury.

Gosh, this game looks different than was expected back when the schedule was made. The Patriots are only 20.5 point favorites which is what happens when the AFC East leader faces a Division II school. Notable and memorable - the Colts have won five of the last seven meetings. Will the Pats take mercy? Sorry. Should have waited until you weren't drinking when I asked that.

Pregame Notes: On the plus side, the Colts nearly played the 2-8 Panthers even last week. For a team that has lost by 55 points already, that was something. The notion that the Colts could pull off essentially the trap game of the season is hard to imagine. Harder still to think the Pats won't roll up the score simply because they can and will. The Colts have fired their Defensive Coordinator Larry Coyer which should solve all the problems this week.

QUARTERBACK: The Curtis Painter experience is over, mercifully, simply because two touchdowns over a six game span seemed less than NFL-ish. Now Dan Orlovsky gets his chance to star in "Dances With Wolves" but at least he goes against the worst secondary in the league. That still doesn't warrant a fantasy start as proven by Tyler Palko when he went to New England two weeks ago and lost 34-2. Orlovsky might get lucky for one score. He may not. At least they have no game film on him.

RUNNING BACKS: Joseph Addai returned last week but only carried seven times for 23 yards while Donald Brown had a season best 80 yards and a score on 14 carries and Delone Carter mostly faded into the background. When and if Addai takes a bigger chunk of the workload depends on his hamstring remaining healed and the work making sense. In the end it doesn't matter since none of these runners have ever had more than around 80 yards in a freak high game and scoring is rare and random.

Expecting a Patriot pummeling, no reason to rely on any IND running back.

WIDE RECEIVERS: The Pats do have a terrible secondary but the Colts have been the worst in the league using wide receivers. The worst. That is a bit of a tumble from the past when they were the absolute best. But Reggie Wayne's touchdown last week against the Panthers was the first one by any Colt wideout since week five and there have only been six all season anyway. New quarterback, on the road versus a bad defense - a lot could happen here but Wayne is the only player that makes sense for a fantasy starter and even then temper expectations.

TIGHT ENDS: Jacob Tamme has not scored and had only one game over 20 yards. With a new quarterback this week, there is no fantasy value here.

Pregame Notes: This game was historically a great watch with tons of points and dramatic endings. Now - still half true. Having lost five of the last seven to the Colts and being a "roll it up" sort of offense anyway means the Patriots can have some fun here and help send a message to the league, as always, to respect and fear them. The best part of this game is that almost all the offensive players are worth a fantasy start this week.

I love a defensive touchdown in this game.

QUARTERBACK: Matt Cassel passed for four touchdowns on the Colts and Drew Brees had five scores. It would be a huge disappointment if Tom Brady doesn't come out and paste the Colts with at least three or four touchdowns and very healthy yardage. In the words of Bill Belichick, "we score because we can".

RUNNING BACKS: This backfield makes a mockery of projections. Last week all four backs had at least four carries or more and that doesn't count the injured Kevin Faulk. Stevan Ridley (4-4), Danny Woodhead (4-20), Shane Vereen (7-18) and BenJarvus Green-Ellis (14-44, 2 TD) all participated. There is no sense in projecting for any of them really but especially besides Green-Ellis. His scores last week were the first ones since week five.

The Colts are soft against everything, so chances are one rushing touchdown happens if not more.

WIDE RECEIVERS: This smacks of a beatdown and Wes Welker already had a bounce back game in Philly with 115 yards and two scores last Sunday. No reason to shy away from Deion Branch as well. Four different wide receivers have scored twice against the Colts. Welker should be a lock for one and maybe two if Branch doesn't collect it.

Side note - No Chad Ochocinco for the last two weeks and no one notices.

TIGHT ENDS: Rob Gronkowski has been on a four game scoring streak and totaled six over those weeks with a grand total of 11 of the season. Aaron Hernandez has been hanging out around 30 or 40 yards per game for the last month and not scored since week nine. This is a great chance to correct that. Both tight ends are decent plays.
