IDP Game Breakdowns Star Ratings: Week 15

This is part 2 in the weekly IDP Game Breakdown series. Star Ratings boxes utilize the same color coding as the reference chart in part 1. Each team's ratings box is colored to show the tackle opportunities the team they are facing is giving up: average (highlighted in yellow), below average (highlighted in red) & above average (highlighted in green). This will help so that you can quickly see the good vs. bad vs. neutral matchups and also if you are stuck between who to start out of say two 3 Star players then you will probably want to go with the one that has a "Green" matchup versus a "Red" matchup (remember Scheme Matters).

Star ratings are based on a 12-team league with the following starting requirements: 2 defensive linemen (DL) (defensive ends (DE) & defensive tackles (DT)), 3 linebackers (LB), 3 defensive backs (DB) (cornerbacks (CB) & safeties (S)).

Scoring system used for this article: solo tackle (2), assisted tackle (1), sack (3), forced or recovered fumble (3), interception (3) and pass defended (1).

Tackle opportunity stats as well as other stats utilized in the breakdowns are derived from data provided by NFLData.com.

Star Rating System
5-Star Play: Studly performance anticipated
4-Star Play: Above average performance anticipated
3-Star Play: Average starter performance anticipated
2-Star Play: Risky Starter/ Sleeper
1-Star Play: Pine rider, keep 'em on the bench, too risky to start
IR = Injured Reserve
OUT = player will not play due to injury
Injured = player injured but not yet ruled out, too much risk to rank
# = bump player up one level in DT mandatory leagues
If a Star Rank box is GREEN that means the players rank has been adjusted UP.
If a Star Rank box is RED that means the players rank has been adjusted DOWN.

Appreciate the kind words. I will make note of your request and bubble it up this offseason...One thing that I would like to see happen in the future is that we can start adding projections for IDP that can be used with MyHuddle...that way you can get the rankings to matchup your leagues scoring.

I think the guys on this site do a GREAT job and the info they provide have helped me tremendously throughout my membership. The only deal on my wish list is that, I would like to see ONE of the IDP rankings based off of a mixed stat basis that portrays tackles and big plays (sacks/turnovers) on a more equitable level.
I know there are a million different IDP scoring systems out there but, a sack (3 pts) compared to a solo (2 pts) is obviously a TACKLE heavy scoring system.
My league gives sacks (12 pts) and solo tacks (2 pts), interceptions (10 pts) etc. I know there are more leagues out there that have similiar scoring systems, so allocating just ONE of the authors to a big play/plain jane mix would help reach more of the IDP leagues out there.

Bob,

McCarthy and DJ jump out as the 1st to to sit...the next isn't near as easy...but based on the matchup I would sit Sean Lee...with that group it can't ever be easy to sit one over another.

I am sorry that Darin and I don't see eye to eye on Poz this week, but with the amount of IDPs that he ranks and that I rate, it is going to happen...as far as him being a 3-star play, yeah I am probably a bit low and an argument could be made for him to be a 4-star play...but what kept me at 3-stars is the fact that I think that the Falcons are going to pass the ball quite a bit to take advantage of a depleted Jaguars secondary.

i wish there was a better correlation between the weekly ranks and star ratings.

the #2 LB (posluszny) is a 3 star play.

i know it is 2 different writers, but don't help us folks who pay $$$ for 1 site.
