This is a brief recap of the injuries occurring during Sunday's games. A complete in-depth injury report will be published on Tuesday.
Jake Ballard, TE, NYG - Sprained Knee
Ballard left Sunday’s game in the second quarter with a sprained knee. He briefly returned in the third quarter but he eventually left for good. The severity of the injury and his status for week 16 are unknown.
A. J. Green, WR, CIN - Sprained Shoulder
Green’s season is likely over after he left Sunday’s game with what is being called a grade 3 shoulder sprains. Grade 3 sprains indicate complete ligament tears and if the initial reports on the injury are accurate there is a good chance that he will need surgery to repair the damage.
Stevie Johnson, WR, BUF - Strained Groin
Johnson left Sunday’s game in the second half with a strained groin and did not return. The severity of the injury and his status for week 16 are unknown.
Johnny Knox, WR, CHI - Damaged Lumbar Vertebra
Knox is out for the remainder of the season and his future in the NFL is in question after he left Sunday’s game with what is being described as a severe lumbar vertebra injury. According to early reports he will need surgery to stabilize the vertebra. Fortunately team officials believe that he will have full use of his extremities following the procedure and his quality of life will be unaffected.
Willis McGahee, RB, DEN - Strained Hamstring
McGahee left Sunday’s game in the first quarter with what is believed to be a strained hamstring. He was able to return in the second half but he was seen limping in between plays. His status for week 16 is currently unknown.
Mark Sanchez, QB, NYJ - Stinger
Sanchez suffered a stinger in the second half of Sunday’s game that caused some numbness in the his hand. It isn’t clear if he was replaced because of the injury or because of the score, but either way team officials believe he should be able to play in week 16.
Mike Williams, WR, SEA - Fractured Ankle and Leg
Williams left Sunday’s game after fracturing several bones in his ankle and leg. The severity of the breaks are currently unknown, but team officials believe he will need surgery to repair the damage. Obviously his season is over.
