Nothing is more revealing than the actual number of games
that a fantasy player scored well. Year end stats hide
unusually high games which skew the season statistics.
Below are the listing for the QB, RB, TE and WR positions
counting the number of times that player met or exceed
the level deemed a "good game" and also what
percentage of his games were at that level for the 2002
season.
Big numbers are nice, but more important is how they are
obtained. Without week to week production, no fantasy team
can excel.

Gannon was the king last season and even though he is
getting up there in years, he still delivers the goods.
Gannon tailed off last season on scores but still had the
yardage, a big factor in consistency. Aaron Brooks was
actually even better than this considering that he suffered
from a shoulder injury the final four games.
Bigger surprises were Jeff Garcia and Trent Green who
had good years but used big games to temper the bad ones.
Several of these players - Maddox, Hasselbeck, Kitna and
Couch actually had games missed or not truly started (or
ended) that affected their numbers.

Priest Holmes - why'd you have to get hurt? He had the
first 100% in the seven years since The Huddle first originated
this sort of analysis.
Tiki Barber and Charlie Garner turned in very consistent
numbers thanks to being so heavily involved in the passing
game as well. Those receiving yards and scores are a big
bonus for runningbacks.
Biggest surprises were Garrison Hearst, Corey Dillon and
Stephen Davis.
Players like Amos Zereoue, Kevan Barlow, T.J. Duckett
and Kevin Faulk were hurt by a lack of true starter status
last season.

Todd Heap, Tony Gonzalez and Jeremy Shockey were the top
three in consistency last season and also remain in the
top three in virtually all rankings this year.
Doug Jolley was a very nice surprise and in a position
as spotty as tight end, gaining the 50 yards or a score
in a week is an accomplishment. Doing it half the time
as Jolley did is quite a feat.

As a sign of the dynamic nature of receivers, the most
consistent group included Donald Driver, Chad Johnson,
Dante Stallworth, Lavernues Coles and Jerry Porter who
were all breakout receivers last year. Of the top 18 receivers,
three were not even the #1 receiver for their team - Stallworth,
Porter and Price.
Use these numbers as one tool in your own rankings and
projections. Consistency is a critical element to creating
a fantasy team that can post big points every single week.
Gaining consistency from an inconsistent position - receivers
and tight ends - gives you an advantage every week you
play.
