Game Prediction:
GB 21, PHI 17
Line: Eagles by 5
The Packers come off a big emotional win for the second time
over the visiting Seahawks and continue to look like they
are hitting their stride at a very opportune time. Brett Favre
ended the season as the NFL leader in passing touchdowns and
threw for 319 yards while completing almost 70% of his passes
last week. He had no interceptions and while Ahman Green was
held to only 66 yards on 33 carries, he scored two touchdowns.
Green Bay is present an above average defense with a potent
rushing game and a passing game that lead the entire league
in scoring. In his last three road games, Favre has thrown
ten touchdowns and never less than 278 yards passing.
The Eagles come into the game rested but without some significant
players. Brian Westbrook is now out of the picture and with
him the better part of the running game. The defense has lost
Emmons and has been bad against the rush for most of the second
half of the season. Their defense has been playing in the
bottom ten against most fantasy positions in the second half
of the season.
McNabb, as always, is the central key to this game because
the loss of Westbrook removes a major concern for the linebacking
corps that can now give a little more attention to McNabb.
Buckhalter and Staley will still provide enough running to
give the rushing game some success.
This game pits a team that must continue to play with even
more starters out and which features a defense that is no
where as good as it has been in years past. The Packers come
in with a better defense and a more rounded offense. The game
will hinge on the emotion the Eagles can gain from the homefield
and how well McNabb can direct the attack but the Packers
have been as good on the road as at home this season and come
into the game with better health. Packers take this one in
a close match.
