This draft was conducted between July 12th and July 14th considering a performance scoring scenario of 1/10 rush or receive yards, 1/20 pass yards, six point touchdowns with negative two point interceptions. Two point conversions are two points per participant. Defenses receive 1 point per sack, 2 points per turnovers and six point touchdowns.
This is a ten team draft and unlike a 12 team league, starter depth is obviously increased. This size league is ideal for fairly new team owners because it is large enough to be challenging but deep enough that each team should have some stud players. Given the greater depth in each position (comparable to 12 teams), the greater the focus should be on netting top-level starters at every position. Simply enough, the smaller the league means the less that depth matters and the more critical that difference-makers as starters are. The analysis that follows looks more critically at those starters and less at the depth than with a 12 team league.
The 18 rounds built rosters of 2 QB, 5 RB, 5 WR, 2 TE, 2 PK and 2 DEF with a starting lineup of QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, PK and DEF.

Resulting Teams
Draft Slot #1
5 Round Strategy: RB, RB, WR, RB, WR
Started out with Holmes and Dillon as a nice one-two punch and then nabbed best available WR in Chad Johnson (3rd). After waiting for 18 picks, decided to backup his RB spot with Thomas Jones (4th) which gave him three legitimate starters at the highest scoring position. Finally nabbed Javon Walker (5th) and waited until the 8th to get his QB in Chad Pennington. Has difference makers in Holmes, Dillon (probably), Chad Johnson and Mike Vanderjagt.
In a ten man league, Pennington is a risk for QB and Harrington offers risk/upside as well. Missed out on Manning at the 2nd pick. Has five WR's that are all upside guys and could do very well but used final two RB slots to get backups for RB's he didn't have. A little weak at QB and DEF, still managed to secure an above average team thanks to Priest Holmes.
Starters: Pennington, Holmes, Dillon, Chad Johnson, Walker, Robinson, Crumpler, Vanderjagt and PHI.

Draft Slot #2
5 Round Strategy: RB, QB, RB, WR, WR
Grabbed Tomlinson to start and then still reached Manning (2nd) for a top QB. Went back and got his RB2 with Rudi Johnson and then worked on his receivers for the next three rounds by taking Steve Smith, Marty Booker and Darrell Jackson. Smith in the 5th round shows how deeply WR can be had in a ten team league. Went with upside players for TE in Clark and Chamberlain and made PK and DEF a sidenote with his final four picks.
Ended up with strong starters for QB, RB and WR and weak at TE, PK and DT which accounts for 3 of the 9 starters each week. Manning was a nice pick at the 2.09 and he did secure the CLE rushing game with both Suggs and Green. Could have been a little stronger by not ignoring TE, PK and DEF for so long but super strong at the highest scoring positions.
Starters: Manning, Tomlinson, R. Johnson, Jackson, Smith, Booker, Clark, Vinatieri and MIN.

Draft Slot #3
5 Round Strategy: RB, QB, RB, TE, WR
Went with McAllister to start and then still reached Culpepper (2nd) before wisely filling RB2 with Tiki Barber. Found Tony Gonzalez still on the board at the 4.08 for a great value pick and then thanks to the depth of WR, still ended up with Boldin (5th), Toomer (6th) and Rod Smith (8th). Has two great defenses (STL and KC) in this scoring system since both have high scoring offenses forcing teams to throw.
Overall, a very solid team with the only potential hole being WR3 but if there was any roster spot to be weak at, WR3 is the one most easily filled. Has the #1 QB and TE, solid RBs and some potential elsewhere. In this 10 team format, he was able to get a big difference maker at QB and yet still not pay too big a price for it.
Starters : Culpepper, McAllister, Barber, Boldin, Toomer, R. Smith, Gonzalez, Feeley, STL

Draft Slot #4
5 Round Strategy: RB, RB, WR, WR, WR
Started solid with Shaun Alexander and then opted for Travis Henry over Culpepper or Manning. A solid backfield is important, but may have missed a chance to get a top QB when he could have still reached Stephen Davis or Julius Jones in the 3rd. As it was, went with a strong receiver corps by getting Hines Ward (3rd), Coles (4th) and Andre Johnson (5th) for a very nice trio. Took the later chance on Winslow (7th) after finally grabbing his QB with Brooks (6th).
QB's last in most leagues and in a ten team situation, they last even longer as shown by getting Brooks in the 6th. Ended up with no top 3 player in any position but very solid throughout. This looks like a team that was controlled by a plan and less by making value picks. In a ten team league, value picks are more common. Back-up RBs all have question marks.
Starters: Brooks, Alexander, Henry, Ward, Coles, A. Johnson, Winslow, Brown and MIA

Draft Slot #5
5 Round Strategy: RB, RB, WR. RB, QB
Getting Ahman Green in the 5th slot was nice and was followed by Faulk (2nd) which could be gold. Went with Terrell Owens (3rd) and then went with Kevin Jones (4th) as RB2 over guys like Thomas Jones and Staley. Finally filled his QB spot with Hasselbeck in the 5th which was an absolute steal.
While Hasselbeck, Green, Faulk (with Jackson) and Owens are a nice start, this is a risky roster. Consider that Owens, Faulk, Kevin Jones, Charles Rogers and Ashley Lelie all have questions to be answered. Picks at TE, PK and DT were all solid but unlikely to make a difference as it reads like a dream line-up from 2002. Mid-draft is always hard and this team went for a mixture of fading stars and a few good potential unknowns. There is potential for this team to be sure, but it is a bit riskier than neccessary with a ten team league.

Draft Slot #6
5 Round Strategy: RB, WR, RB, WR, WR
Here is an interesting team compared to team #5 since they drafted side-by-side. Started with Portis and then took Marvin Harrison (2nd) and yet still got Stephen Davis (3rd) and he also grabbed Foster for insurance. Picking up Santana Moss (4th) and Chambers (5th) locked down a nice set of starting receivers.
His weakness is at RB3 to be sure which was caused by the need to get Foster. Bulger (6th) is a steal and managed to get above average players in McMichael, Akers and the Dallas defense. Unlike team #5, this team has much less risky players and more star power for starters - critical in a ten man league. This will be a team hunting the RB free agents all season but otherwise you have to like how this team managed to fall into place.
