Resulting Teams
Draft Slot #1
5 Round Strategy: RB, QB, TE, RB, WR
Team started out with Holmes, then grabbed Vick with the 2.10 but passed on Michael Bennett or Terrell Owens to do it. In a small league, it was likely early given most projections of Vick. Snapped op Gonzalez (3) and then went back for RB2 in the 4th round for Kevin Jones. Used the 4th through the 10th rounds to fill up on RB's and WR's
Ended up with a pretty risky roster consider he was the #1 drafter. Has Vick, Kevin Jones, Staley, Burress and Lelie to rely on and while they are all in good situations with motivation to perform well, it ended up as a risky line-up. Stellar at RB1 and TE, the rest of the roster is more crossing the fingers and hoping good things will happen.
Starting lineup: Vick, Holmes, K Jones, A Johnson, Burress, Lelie, Gonzalez, Longwell and MIA.

Draft Slot #2
5 Round Strategy: RB, RB, WR, TE, QB
Went for a potent backfield of Tomlinson and Dillon before snagging Owens in the 3rd. Found Heap in the 4th for a nice value (though borderline early) and still reached McNabb with the 5.02 pick.
Did get big value with NE, Heap, Wilkins - tops of their position and Tomlinson is always a bonus. The only weakness with the team was the decision to delay RB3 until the 10th round which was probably good to at least get Griffin. The set of starters are solid enough, but the backup RB's could all not be playing when needed and Carr makes a marginal backup QB at this point. Evidently the strength at RB with Tomlinson and Dillon gave him the confidence to raid other positions but Dillon comes off an injury year and is on a new team. A bit of risk with potentially no backup in the highest scoring position. Outside of Owens, unlikely the WR's will do much in this smaller sized league.

Draft Slot #3
5 Round Strategy: RB, RB, WR, WR, QB
Went with Ahman Green and then Marshall Faulk, though missed out on Steven Jackson for the handcuff even though he lasted until the 9th round. Next two rounds produced very nice WR's in Chad Johnson and Darrell Jackson and still found Brooks in the 5th for his QB.
Ended up with a good QB but his RB's are less strong than what typically is seen in a 10 man league, largely due to the Faulk pick that seems so risky now. Ended up with five very nice WR's and two upside TE's in Clark and Witten. In a ten man league, this produced a solid team that is weak only in RB depth though it could be argued anyway. Starting at the third pick in the draft, this plan ended up straining off players after the studs were gone in almost all positions and would likely end up as an average team unless a player or two really exceeded expectations.

Draft Slot #4
5 Round Strategy: RB, QB, RB, WR, WR
Drafting fourth meant taking an RB and after McAllister, team went for Manning and then back to RB's for Bennett. Took Horn in the 4th followed by Javon Walker.
This plan is interesting compared to Team #3 who varied it somewhat. Taking Manning in the 2nd still allowed him to reach Bennett and then two WR's were in order of good quality. Got Thomas Jones in the 6th for a nice RB3 that could supplant Bennett if the CHI offense actually does work. Boo Williams makes a very nice TE pickup available well after the top 4 have gone. Kicker and Defense should be solid though no difference makers. Strength at QB and RB, a little weak at WR3 but at least solid for the rest of the starters.
Starters: Manning, McAllister, Bennett/Jones, Horn, Walker, Branch, Williams, Elam and STL.

Draft Slot #5
5 Round Strategy: RB, WR, RB, RB, WR
This was a conventional plan for a mid-draft pick and very common at this stage. Got Portis and then nice value pick in Harrison, then back to Stephen Davis and Barber before still reaching Chambers and Jimmy Smith. Very solid start for RB and WR.
The price paid was getting Favre, Kleinsasser and DEN defense as starters. Akers is likely solid but outside the great RB and WR crew, there are no difference makers. Mid-draft picks usually have better access to value picks. Starting with Portis and Harrison is explosive, but the path from there on out was pretty safe but likely limiting since the starters at the other positions all waited so long. Needs those starting RB's and WR's to maintain past production to stay competitive.
Starters: Favre, Portis, S Davis, Harrison, J Smith, Chambers, Kleinsasser, Akers and DEN.

Draft Slot #6
5 Round Strategy: RB, RB, WR, WR, WR
This was a pragmatic plan going in and likely was set and never changed during the draft. Grabbed two best RB's in Alexander and Rudi Johnson, then went for the starting WR's of Ward, Moulds and Steve Smith - pretty nice. Unlike Team #5, got QB's when value was a little higher in the 6th with McNair. Moved on to TE's with Crumpler for a solid start.
Took some nice backups too with Garner, Wheatley and Alstott providing something each week if needed and I particularly liked the backup WR's in Stallworth and Clayton which are both upside. DAL gives him at least a solid DEF and PK is about the only below average slot on the starters. Big deal - they're just kickers. This plan came together pretty well even if it was almost standard in approach, boosted by some nice values and good upside backups.
Starters: McNair, Alexander, R Johnson, Ward, Moulds, S. Smith, Crumpler, Gramatica and DAL.

Draft Slot #7
5 Round Strategy: RB, RB, WR, QB, WR
This team followed a standard plan initially, but then swerved away when value presented itself. Went with Lewis and Barlow to start, then Boldin for WR1 but took Hasselbeck at the 4.04 for a solid start. There were several WR's I would personally have taken over Boldin at the 3.07, but he got two solid RB's, a upper tier WR and QB and then went back for WR2 in the 5th with Coles.
Ended up with fewer playmakers than desirable but a solid team nonetheless. A bit weak at WR in my view but very good at QB and RB and with upside in the backups for almost all positions. The receivers look more like they were from last year's draft but the rest of the team will hold up or even surprise. I liked the plan a bit more than the actual players but that is more personal preference.

Draft Slot #8
5 Round Strategy: RB, RB, WR, TE, QB
Team had a very fast start with speedsters Taylor and Domanick Davis followed by Santana Moss. Grabbed Shockey in the 4th before setting for Trent Green in the 5th. A bit higher on Green than many, but he is perhaps the most widely varying QB in terms of value to drafters.
Though I would have preferred Bulger over Green, there is little disagreement that this plan built a very strong team with depth and big upside. Has top players in TE, DEF and PK and major upside in S Moss, Robinson and Rogers with Boston on the bench. Also grabbed Pennington for a great QB2. The backs are probably more upside than actual production, but if only one of them hits he will be fine. This looks like a more exciting team to watch during the season with much risk and reward potentially being there. Drafting this late in the first round makes sense of it. Some of these picks could well fall flat, but even if one or two hits well, this team should surprise. Grabbing Greg Jones or even Hollings would have been more prudent than Mike Anderson.
Starters: Green. Taylor, D Davis, S Moss, Robinson, Rogers, Shockey, Vanderjagt and BAL.

Draft Slot #9
5 Round Strategy: RB, WR, RB, WR, WR
This plan almost always works in this slot. Took Edgerrin James and then Holt before getting Henry. Filled out WR's with Mason and Price and then got his QB with Bulger in the 6th before gaining McMichael in the 7th. This was built to accumulate starters first, backups second.
Got lucky with Bulger in the 6th but missed out on Crumpler in the 7th. Waiting on backups still netted him George as RB3 and Reggie Williams as WR4. Ignored DEF and PK until he had to take one. This plan built a team of good starters with some firepower at QB, RB and WR and likely average numbers from the rest. Getting McGahee was a plus. McCardell less so at the current progress of contract talks. Taking Holt was a nice value ploy and the rest fell into place fairly well for the team. It is a pretty solid plan at this point in the draft.

Draft Slot #10
5 Round Strategy: QB, WR, RB, RB, RB
Huge start with Culpepper and Randy Moss but then suffered from RB-envy and used four straight picks to gain Westbrook, Martin, Duckett and C Brown. By then had to take WR's and settled for Bruce, Wayne and Rod Smith. By then, only Mili was left at TE.
Sterling start caused a domino-effect on the rest of the draft with no RB's. Being the back-end swing pick meant chasing a positional need was pretty hard to keep up with and after the 2nd pick, kept trying to catch up to where he needed to be. The pick of Duckett at the 5.10 would have likely been better with a WR there like Chambers or Robinson. Ended up with the best QB and WR1 in the league but all other starters were below average in their position. This is a good example of what pure value picks with the first two selections can cause when neither is a RB. Even in a 10 team league, it forces teams to make decisions outside their control.
