PHI (3-0) vs CHI (1-2)

Game Prediction: PHI 31, CHI 14

The Eagles already look like they are in mid-season form while the Bears get to see if they can pass with Quinn instead of Grossman. It's a downgrade to a passing attack sorely needing an upgrade.

Pre-Game Notes - PHI

The Eagles are not merely 3-0, they haven't played in a game that was even remotely close yet.

Quarterback: Donovan McNabb has yet to score less than three times in a game and currently has thrown for eight touchdowns against only one fumble this season. He has rushed in two scores as well.

Running Backs: Brian Westbrook had a lower game last week against the Lions when he only gained 44 yards on 13 carries and added 32 yards on seven receptions. He stays around 20 touches a game every week and since only about 12 to 14 are runs, he's not wearing down.

The Eagles lost Jon Ritchie to a torn ACL last week and the fullback did help out both the running and passing games. It is expected that Josh Parry will take the starting role since rookie Thomas Tapeh still needs some seasoning.

Wide Receivers: Terrell Owens has scored in every game as an Eagle and has five touchdowns on the year already. He turned in 107 yards on six catches against the Lions and has 252 yards on the season. Outside of Owens, there's been no clear #2 receiver preferred in the passing game with Todd Pinkston and Freddie Mitchell taking turns in being the other guy of note each game. While Owens is easily the lead receiver, the passing targets are much more evenly distributed. Owens just does much more with his throws.

Tight Ends: For the third week in a row, the Eagles threw a touchdown to a tight end only last week it was to Mike Bartrum. L.J. Smith suffered a shoulder bruise in the second half last week but is expected to be fine for this weekend. Smith is a big component of the redzone passing game and will be back to catching those endzone passes.

Match Against the Defense: The Bears have allowed all opposing quarterbacks to score this season and most recently Culpepper had 360 yards and two scores. Look for McNabb to turn in yet another big game here against a secondary that has been hard hit by injuries at a very bad time.

This should also provide Freddie Mitchell from the slot a great shot at scoring once with the Bears secondary spending time chasing Owens around and allowing Mitchell to find some room behind the safety.

Westbrook should enjoy a moderate to good game here. He won't get enough carries to post much rushing yardage but with his receptions will total out well. The Bears have not allowed any RB to score a rushing touchdown yet this season.

Pre-Game Notes - CHI

The Bears offense has been little more than Thomas Jones so far and now with Grossman out for the season, it could end up affecting even Jones unless Quinn can gain some quick respect.

Quarterback: Rex Grossman tore his ACL and will be out for seven to ten months - that could be after training camp starts next year. In his place, Jonathan Quinn will start this week and it will be only his second start after five years in the NFL. Against an aggressive pass rush this week, keep those passing expectations low this week. Actually make that about a month or so since he has a bye, at the Bucs and a Redskins game coming up.

Running Backs: Thomas Jones is showing everything he was supposed to be back when he was drafted, It just took three different teams to get there. Jones is averaging about five yards per carry and about 110 rushing yards per game with three scores on the year.

Wide Receivers: So far Bobby Wade has been the best one for the past two weeks but now with Quinn at the helm, the learning curve starts over with this group and thus far this season they hadn't gotten very far down that curve anyway. The group struggled with Grossman against soft defenses. Now they have Quinn against one of the biggest blitzing teams in the NFL.

Tight Ends: Just not a factor yet and with a new quarterback again, likely they'll be blocking more than receiving anyway.

Match Against the Defense: Thomas Jones will have to break off a long run if he expects to notch another 100+ yard game. Onterrio Smith only had 28 yards and the entire Lions team had 67 yards on the ground. With a new quarterback to protect, the Bears will run often and the Eagles know they will. So far - the Eagles have stopped all rushing outside of Barber's one long run in week one.

Don't touch the CHI passing game yet. It was already bad and this is hardly the week to expect improvement.
