PHI (9-1) vs NYG (5-6)

Game Prediction: PHI 27, NYG 14

This is a rematch of week one when the Eagles beat the Giants 31-17. The only thing that has changed is that the Giants are worse.

Pre-Game Notes - PHI

The Eagles currently have only one remaining opponent (GB) that has a winning record. Their biggest problem will be motivation. They currently have the second highest scoring offense and the second best defense for allowing points. That's called 9-1 with a vengeance.

Quarterback: Donovan McNabb already has 22 passing scores this season and four games with four touchdowns which includes the last two weeks. His first four touchdown game came in week one against these Giants.

Running Backs: Brian Westbrook is safely over his bruised ribs with 105 total yards last week and two touchdown receptions against the Redskins. This is not good for the rest of the league and especially not good for the Giants who allowed Westbrook to gain 161 total yards in week one.

Wide Receivers: Terrell Owens only had two catches for 24 yards against the Redskins, but he scored once which gives him 13 touchdowns on the season. For much of the season, he had been the only wideout of note but Todd Pinkston has joined the fray now with 106 yards last week and a touchdown the week before that. Owens only had 68 yards in week one against the Giants, but he did score three times.

Tight Ends: The Eagles just don't bother with them any more, especially since Westbrook is catching balls again.

Match Against the Defense: The Eagles had a big game in week one but now have to travel to New York. The Giants have only faced Culpepper as another decent quarterback this season. Otherwise they have allowed at least one passing score to each visiting quarterback and that includes notables like Harrington (2), Krenzel and Ramsey. The secondary is no better and now the Giants cannot rush the passer as well.

This will be another big effort against a divisional opponent that should go well for the Eagles. Look for Westbrook to remain involved in the passing game and while Owens may not score three times again, he is a lock for at least one and probably two for the best of all reasons - because he can.

Pre-Game Notes - NYG

On a three game losing streak with an injury depleted defense. Using a rookie quarterback. And the last three losses were to the Bears, Cardinals and Falcons.

Quarterback: Eli Manning had a fairly typical first start for a rookie quarterback. He completed 17 of 37 passes for 162 yards and one score against two interceptions. It could have been worse and likely could not have been much better.

Running Backs: Tiki Barber remains as the lone consistent weapon and ran for 107 yards last week against the Falcons. That makes seven 100 yard rushing efforts this season with ten touchdowns on the year.

Wide Receivers: So maybe a rookie quarterback is not a blessing for the Giant wideouts. Amani Toomer only had 24 yards on two catches and Ike Hilliard managed four receptions for only 28 yards. But this season, those numbers are not that far out of line with what they had been doing. Both wideouts had several drops and did Manning no favors.

Tight Ends: Jeremy Shockey caught Manning's first NFL touchdown during his five catches for 45 yards but even he had several drops as well.

Match Against the Defense: There's little doubt that the Eagles will be blitzing Manning but the Giants will be running Barber much of the game since Barber ran for 125 yards in week one with 75 yards in reception. He is all that works every week and the Eagles have had problems with him before.

Expect a moderate - very moderate - game from Manning in his second start and likely only score once this time as well. If he does manage one, it will most likely be to Shockey once again since the Eagles have allowed only two wideouts to score in the last six weeks and one was in the Pittsburgh loss.
