A “must win” game for both teams as Green Bay owns the tie-breaker for the NFC North divisional race, but with a home win the Vikings are back in driver’s seat. Neither team seems to want to win this division crown as the Vikings’ defense crumbled in the last seconds of the Lions’ game last Sunday giving up what should have been a touchdown and an extra point to send the game into overtime and the Packers defense was downright offensive in Green Bay’s home loss to Jacksonville.
Both teams have obvious weaknesses on defense. The Vikings are without top cornerback Winfield and the Minnesota’s defense has made QB’s Chad Hutchinson and Joey Harrington look like Joe Montana and John Elway the last two weeks. As bad as they’ve been, the Packers’ secondary has been worse giving up over 400 total yards in consecutive weeks to Detroit and Jacksonville and 193 rushing yards to the Lions and 197 to Jacksonville.
This game looks like one of those “last team with the ball wins” kind of games where both offenses march up and down the field. The total line is probably four points higher than I would have made the game, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this game went over the total with a last minute field goal deciding the outcome. I would probably play the over and the Packers on the money line ($135) if I were interested in the game.
