GB (9-6) vs CHI (5-10)
Game Prediction: GB 10, CHI 20
This is a rematch of the game back in week two when the Bears surprised the Packers with a 21-10 upset win in Lambeau. The Packers have locked up the #3 seed in the playoffs and already say they are going to rest starters.
Pre-Game Notes - GB
The second win over the Vikings was just enough to secure the NFC North this season. Now it twiddling thumbs in Chicago before hosting in round one.
Quarterback: While you know that Brett Favre will take the start here, chances that he will play long are remote. There's nothing to win here and Favre will give way to Craig Nall sooner than later.
Running Backs: Ahman Green will sit most if not all this game. No need for any extra bumps or bruises before the playoffs begin. Look for Najeh Davenport and Tony Fisher to take the bulk of carries if not all of them.
Wide Receivers: The wideouts are less likely to sit out the game though they will likely give way to backups as well. The Bears could have been diced up with Driver and Walker but not likely this week. Expect some numbers from them but Antonio Chatman and even Andrae Thurman should figure in as well.
Tight Ends: Minimal fantasy value this week anyway and Bubba Franks only had one catch for nine yards in the last meeting.
Match Against the Defense: Expect a rather uninspired effort that will include much rushing and only as much passing as seems necessary. This is a week to sit all Packers.
Pre-Game Notes - CHI
The Bears have lost their last three games all by exactly one field goal. They catch a break with the Packers not caring if they get swept this season.
Quarterback: Chad Hutchinson is the fourth Chicago quarterback this season, three since Grossman played against Green Bay in week two. He only had 132 yards and one score in that game and Hutchinson should do better against a team that is just punching a clock this week.
Running Backs: Thomas Jones comes off a 109 yard effort against the Lions last week, his first good game in about eight games. Thomas Jones had his biggest game of the year when he ran for 152 yards and one score against the Packers back in week two. It has gone rather downhill from that game. Jones can end the year on a high note with this freebie game.
Anthony Thomas has fallen back to #3 on the depth charts and has been passed by Adrian Peterson. He's fallen out of whatever little favor he still had and knows that the new offense is not planning to include him in the future.
Wide Receivers: Even back when Grossman was there in week two and the Bears won, the wideouts only had three catches for 42 yards against the Packers in the last meeting. And that was all Bobby Wade. Chances are one may score this week but that's nothing more than a lottery for who might catch the pass.
Tight Ends: Desmond Clark comes off one of his best games of the year. He caught two passes.
Match Against the Defense: Look for plenty of Thomas Jones here and he should end up with a good game. Outside of him the effort will be mostly passing for first down though one passing score could happen. This is a trash game by the Packers so anything is possible.
