The results for running backs are obviously similar to total statistic rankings, but a few notable caveats are here. Larry Johnson really led the group if you consider he only actually started eight games this year since Priest Holmes once again lasted only until mid-season. Domanick Davis was a surprise to come in second though he only had 11 games played and will likely be replaced anyway this year. Corey Dillon was similar in that he played very well in those games he started but as a Patriot, knowing exactly what games he will start is always a major risk every week.
Notable too is that the 24 best runners with consistency only had six manage to play a full 16 games this season. That’s definitely something to keep in mind because the runners full season numbers may be hiding just how good they truly were in 2005.
