Drafting with the first overall pick, I took Tomlinson's consistency over Larry Johnson's upside. With all of the top RB gone, with my back-to-back picks I went with two top 5 WR in Boldin and Harrison. Waiting on my RB2, meant that I would have to take one of the cloudy situations, so I went with Dillon, but luckily I was able to get Maroney as a handcuff a few rounds later. My basic strategy was once I had my 2 RBs and 2 WRs, I would grab my top ranked defensive players while others were taking offense. Every few rounds I would sprinkle in some offense such as TE, QB, and WR3, to ensure could still get a top 12 ranked starter at their respective position. Some of my favorite picks were Gado in the 17th, Heath Miller in the 21st and Steve McNair in the 30th.						Drafting second, I was assured of an upper echelon RB and Top 5 WR, and Johnson/Holt create consistency and a high ceiling for this team. Parker and Bush provide great upside, but the WR crew (after Holt) will need luck to hit consistently. Big gambles with C-Pep and Brees on new teams and coming off injury—counting on one of these to pay off. McMichael and Vinatieri round out the offense. Ray Lewis (4.11) and Lance Briggs (7.02) are going to be strong, Polamalu (9.02) and Peppers (8.11) are capable of exploding any week, but should provide consistency as well. CB’s are solid and I avoided taking any DT’s until the last 2 picks—they just aren’t worth it after the first few. Solid team that will compete each week. Sleepers: S. Merriman as the 48th LB taken—he’ll be better than that, and B. Edwards as the 31st WR. Reaches: Al Wilson, Stu Schwiegert, and the QB’s.

Chose the third slot; LT and LJ went 1-2, "leaving" me with Alexander. Was happy to take him. With RBs flying off the board, Peyton Manning fell, so I had to grab him at 2.10. Took RB2 with upside, Taylor, at 3.03. I decided to wait on WRs; with studs long gone, and having a feeling that the remaining WRs were extremely inconsistent. I ended up with a solid starting trio: Coles, Porter and Bennett. Supplemented my WR corps with Wilford and Jackson. I landed top-10 TE Cooley. Defense anchored by 3 stud LB’s (a system that worked for last season's winner): Peterson, Thurman and Trotter. D-line is anchored by Taylor, little thin past that. My solid DB’s feature guys running Cover-2 and some young talents. Overall, I’m happy with (conceivably) the #1 QB and #1 RB as well as three stud LB’s. With any consistency from WR, this should be a very competitive team.						I took three RBs and three WRs in the first six rounds, which in most IDP drafts is about what you should end up with. It's too early for any defensive players, and quality QB’s can be had very late this year. I had Tom Brady as the second QB available, and I got him in the 7th round. After I picked Brady, I then had to go defense, LB is the by far the most important position on that side of the ball. I drafted lots of risky LB’s, but I only need three to start every week. I waited until the end of the draft to get a DT and PK as those positions score very little and very inconsistently. Due to the league rules I was able to wait until the end of the draft to get Simms and Williamson, they will go sooner in most drafts.

Safe pick with Edge at 1.05 and Denny Green not as pass-happy on the 1-yard line. Top 3 WRs gone at 2.08, so I took Tatum Bell and “backed him up” with Dayne way down in the 15th. Still a question at #1 in Denver, but Shanny might have another 2000 yd tandem this year. Thrilled with Chambers here with a better QB. Nice, consistent set of WRs. Two predictions: Walker helps Smith’s numbers in DEN and Santonio Holmes sees much more playing time than experts are projecting. Very solid starters on defense, nothing flashy, just solid FF points and few past injury worries. Three rookies on this team. All should see significant playing time. Could be gold: Curtis Martin at 6.08; Dayne at 15.05; Bledsoe at 10.08; A.Thomas at 27.05 back with Jauron behind a flaky McGahee. Favorite IDP picks: Roye, Will Smith, Foote, Hawk and Huff.						My 2-pronged strategy was to draft for value and essentially ignore defense early with the notable exception of the all important linebacker position. Picking 6th, I knew I would be guaranteed a top RB/WR combo. In round 1, I took the consistently reliable and under-valued Tiki, then Chad Johnson in round 2 for a great start! Jamal Lewis presents some element of risk but in the 3rd round was worth a chance (same for Ahman Green in the 9th round and White in the 12th). Then went LB's with 2 front line producers in Thomas and Pierce. Crumpler was good value in the 6th and I was thrilled that Bulger fell to me in the 10th. With that core, I felt I could pick best player available the rest of the way and stole some absolute gems. Took some gambles but this team has a huge upside!

I selected the "7" spot, figuring that Jackson will produce in an increasingly focused running game. Droughns (3.7), Foster (6.6) and Rhodes (14.6) are more than adequate for RB2 in redraft. Owens at 2.6 was a gamble, but I count five team "WR1s" on my roster. Witten is a top 6 TE. Vick (12.6) and Rivers (31.7) are an economy QB group. Burgess (16.6) and Coleman (17.7) anchor my line and are above-average starters. Linebackers are deep, but I am counting on Morgan staying healthy and Sims playing three downs from the Cover-2 WLB spot. Weakness is at safety, where Archuleta must stay healthy and increase his tackles in Washington. McGee and Spencer will both start. Whitner was a reach, as he may not start and Buffalo runs a Cover-2 defense. Favorite pick was Michael Turner at 28.06 -- an injury to Tomlinson may guarantee a offensive juggernaut.						Knowing quality defense always falls in the draft, I knew building my offense early was the way to go. I started with 2 RBs back to back, and then went WR 3 rounds in a row, before taking TE Todd Heap in round 6. In round 7, I was thrilled to get LB Will Witherspoon to anchor my defense. The next few rounds I wanted to secure as many of the top scoring players at their positions as possible, and felt I did that with the selections of DE Osi Umenyiora, DT Kevin Williams, QB Carson Palmer, and S Rodney Harrison. The player I wanted most but did not get was RB LenDale White as I own Chris Brown. On paper LB is my weakest position, but with the 6 I have, I should be able to work it out week to week. If Carson Palmer is healthy to start the season, he is the steal of my draft, taken in round 9. Overall I am pleased with this team’s scoring potential, and depth at every position.

I chose to draft from the nine spot to secure 2 RB I could stomach. R. Brown was there at my first choice, I took him over Rudi and Caddy due to Miami's lack of a third down back or goal line vulture. Brown should be the man at all times. In the second I selected McGahee thinking that he will perform like his rookie self. I was happy to nab Wayne as my top WR in round 3, as balls will be flying in Indy, ala 2004. My strategy the rest of the way was to take top defensive talent at the LB (Edwards, Tatupu, Brackett), DE (Strahan), and S (Lewis, Rhodes) positions, while sprinkling in steady if unspectacular offensive players and a few up and comers. CB and DT were positions I elected to treat as stepchildren. My backups consist of young talent, and I feel my starters match up with any team in the league. My favorite choice was Tatupu, while my biggest reach was probably Branch in round 5. Overall a B+.						Drafted from the 10 spot & hated it. I took Rudi over Cadillac for health concerns if nothing else, then took smith in the 2^nd instead of a second tier RB. Came back with Vilma in the 3rd & then Dunn in the 4th to complete a starting backfield. It was not the route I expected or wanted thru the first 4 rounds, but I managed both the top WR & LB along with a decent starting backfield. In the all important early-middle rounds I tried to add something at every offensive position. I went early on Burleson, took Hasselbeck in the 9th, and got both Jones & Benson in the 8th. & 10th. I concentrated on defense in the middle rounds with the exception of Jimmy smith in the 16th. - he retired 2 days later!! I'm not overly excited about this team, but I think it will compete. My favorite pick was Dallas Clark in the 21st.

I love having a solid pair of RBs, so starting with the 11th and 14th overall picks was ideal for me. Cadillac shouldn’t have fallen that far, but I was happy to scoop him up and grab the soon-to-rebound Kevin Jones in the 2nd round. Gates was an easy pick in the 3rd, as was the undervalued Darrell Jackson in the 4th. I wanted to get my three starting LB’s in rounds 5-10, and Davis, June, and Farrior were all great values. Beyond that, my strategy was to take top-5 players at S, CB, and DT earlier than others expected. Consequently, I ended up with excellent, low-risk starters at all positions, which completely fortified my defense. DE is always a deep position, so I waited and still got Grant and Kerney – two top-5 players in 2004. My roster isn’t flashy, but it’s as balanced and deep as it could be.						My draft was based upon my core belief that RB's and LB's are the most valuable players, and that WR's and CB's are the most inconsistent. I got exactly who I targeted with the 1.12 and the 2.1. With the reception points in this league Davis and Westbrook should both be in the top 10 if they remain healthy. If feel I have one of, if not the strongest LB corps in the league. I only drafted 1 WR in the first 10 rounds, because I felt it was better to have consistent impact players at other positions, than an inconsistent WR that will have huge game every now and then. The only two positions I'm weak in are WR and DT. WR's are inconsistent once you get past the elite top 5 or so, and DT's are like kickers, and should be an after thought in drafts. Best Pick - Probably Frank Gore in the 12th. He has a very good chance of being the starter in SF this year, and with Vernon Davis and Antonio Bryant to keep defenses honest, I think the SF RB's should be more productive. Worst Pick - Mark Clayton. While I like Clayton, I should have taken Ernest Wilford with the 18.01 and then picked up Clayton with the 19.12. I had been looking at Wilford for several rounds, and kept telling my self he'd fall a little bit farther.
