| Started: RB, WR, TE, RB, QB,
This is a solid plan so long as that TE is Gates (it was) though it worked out slightly less effectively here thanks to the run on WR. Still, getting Harrison was a plus as the final upper tier WR left on the board. That left him with an RB need at the 4.12 pick that he used for Reggie Bush which was a surprise given the uncertainty - he could have been Thomas Jones though Benson was already gone. Nice three player start left him scratching for RB2 and he took a swing at the fence with Bush.
LenDale White gives him another possibility for RB along with Chris Brown which was a nice pairing at that point. Picked up Da Bears at DEF and the WR's were slightly weaker than what could have been but nice combo of Harrison, Evans, safe Keyshawn and upside Givens likely will be fine with such strength at other positions. Palmer pick could have been Manning or Hasselbeck for less risk but there is big time upside in this squad. If this comes together right, it would be a monster team.
Plan Grade: A- |
Started: RB, QB, RB, RB, WR,
Liked the start of this plan with Tomlinson and then Manning at the 2.11 was a steal. Droughns at the 3.02 was a prudent move but then elected to take McAllister at the 4.11 rather than fill any of the other six starting spots still open. Then had to mine for WR and came away with Galloway, Koren Robinson and Muhammad - not exactly the strongest group possible but taking Manning and then doubling on RB with the #3 and #4 picks meant the team would be just following runs on all other positions.
Solid enough picks where they were made but for owning the second pick of the draft and having the 2nd best RB in the league, seemed a missed opportunity when he took both Droughns and then McAllister coming off a knee injury over other options. Manning and Tomlinson will keep this team a contender but the rest of the roster may struggle to post average numbers. Risk was higher too from McAllister (plus one point receptions matter little with him) and Winslow recovering from injuries and Galloway coming off a freak high season. As usual, the Manning guy pays a big price for having the #1 QB.

| Started: RB, WR, RB, WR. WR,
For the #3 spot, this plan is almost always very successful. Began with Alexander and then reached Fitzgerald despite the run on WR. Used his #3 on Kevin Jones who could have been Willie Parker or Julius Jones for that matter. Then doubled up on WR to get his starting crew with Andre Johnson and Joe Horn.
Used the 6th to scoop TE Witten right before the top TE's were drained and then finally settled for Bledsoe as QB. Had he swapped the TE/QB picks, would have had no difference other than perhaps losing out on Witten. The rest of the roster is solid enough to keep things going and while he only has Alexander as a stud, Fitzgerald will be very good at WR1. RB depth leaves something to be desired though and the 8.10 pick of Dayne could have been LenDale White or Rhodes. Personal preference but overall, this is a solid team that used a solid plan.

Started: RB, WR, WR, RB, RB,
While this plan seems a little unusual, it was mostly related to the players that were taken. Began with Portis and then added Boldin with the 2.09. Doubled on WR with Chambers at the 3.04 though Wayne, Driver or Jackson would have been a personal preference. Needing an RB, this is the first time I have seen this - he grabbed Cedric Benson at the 4.09. That is interesting in that most drafts have Thomas Jones going first and then a later scramble who gets Benson. By taking Benson, he apparently defused anyone wanting to get the handcuff by taking the "back-end" part of it (Benson believed to likely get more work as season progresses). This left Thomas Jones on the board for the next pick. It will be nice to have the CHI RB's locked up but that delayed other positions by a round.
Still ended up with Cooley and then grabbed Culpepper with the 7.04 which as the 9th QB taken is a big risk and likely sub-average for a starting QB. Picked up Maroney for a nice backup and went with Brees just in case that Culpepper pick doesn't work out.
This was a very interesting plan and while there are no studs on the roster, there are a number of solid players and plenty of upside on most picks. I think this team could surprise but the hole at QB could be a killer. I gave this a B but personally I like a lot of those names he picked.

Started: RB, RB, RB, WR, WR,
Started out with a three RB run with Barber, Taylor and Parker so the flex was filled. Mason in the 4th a good pick but weak for a WR1. Roy Williams and Kennison rounded out the group. Went with McMichael at TE and then finally found Warner for QB with the 8.08.
Small surprise to grab a backup TE so quickly though L.J. Smith makes a great one. Overall this is a solid team but no players are considered in the top 6 for their position so making a difference each week will be harder. By no means should this team end up as the worst, but it's hard to see this plan ending up with a top team because none of the players are more than average for their position, if that. It is a safe enough plan and it feels good to start out with 3 RB's, but then the rest are all sub-average unless they exceed expectations.

Started: RB, WR, RB, WR, TE,
Mid-draft teams often struggle to put together a great team without holes but in this one case, it certainly appears to have worked. Stated with Ronnie Brown and then still found Randy Moss at the 2.07. Grabbed Julius Hones with the 3.06 (and later nabbed Barber with the 9.06). Burress came on board at the 4.07 and then landed a top TE with Crumpler.
Sixth round went to QB Bulger for a solid start and then went back to shored up RB by taking Curtis Martin at the 7.06. Solid enough at PK and DEF and even grabbed Blaylock to back-up Martin. This strategy cherry picked best values as they went past very well and admittedly it helps that he also picked players that I too am high on. Has either top or solid players at every position. For a mid-round drafter, this looks like it worked about as well as you could hope for. Back-ups and everything. Could have considered grabbing Frerotte at the end to backup Bulger instead of taking two DEF.

Started: RB WR, RB, RB, TE,
Nice start with Cadillac and then Terrell Owens. Doubled on RB with Lewis and Bell before grabbing top TE Heap. 6.06 pick went for WR2 with always solid Rod Smith and finally QB Plummer was added at the 7.07.
Solid team that used the flex position with an upside RB in Bell, but the only change that could have helped would be swapping the WR/QB move at the 6/7 picks. Instead of Rod Smith and Plummer that could have been Bulger and then Reggie Brown, Stallworth, etc.. Not taking a QB by the 6th round definitely means taking a step down at the highest scoring position. This plan created a very nice team with some top talent in Cadillac, Owens and Heap but that QB spot is left to Plummer and Simms - not likely to be a benefit to the team.
Plan Grade: B+ |
Started: RB, WR, WR, RB, QB,
This was a solid plan that worked out better than normal thanks to some shrewd picks. Started with James at RB and then grabbed Chad Johnson as WR1. Rather than grab another RB at the 3.08 (could have been Dunn), opted to take Reggie Wayne for a better bang and then opted for Foster as RB2 with the 4.05. That seemed weaker until he picked up DeAngelo Williams two rounds later. CAR rushing game locked up with top QB in Eli Manning sandwiched between. Have to love that start.
Went with Fred Taylor as a potential flex player which could be great or terrible, and delayed TE until the 9.08 round since the best ones all were gone by the seventh round. Landed upside guy in Heath Miller which should be at least okay and could be very good. Top kicker in the 12th round with Vinatieri. The 8th spot is always a tough one to draft but this plan worked out wonderfully, giving him a solid RB situation, a top WR, QB and PK and enough depth around to contend. This worked out really well, especially with the Foster-Manning-Williams move that still left Taylor to grab.

Started: RB, WR, RB, TE, WR,
Overall, this plan usually works pretty well. Stated with Stephen Jackson and then grabbed Steve Smith as WR1. Solid start to be sure. Then went with Dunn as RB2 and then scooped Gonzo with the 4.04. Went for WR2 with Javon Walker at the 5.09.
Needed another RB and went for Ahman Green and QB Delhomme showed up at the 7.09. Top DEF in PIT. As I said, this plan usually works out pretty well but in this case there is potential for trouble. Steve Smith is bound to fall this year at least a little but he's still worthy of the pick. But Dunn, Gonzalez, Walker and Green were the next four picks and each one is considered likely to decline this year (if only this year for Walker). Jackson and Steve Smith gives this unit some firepower to be sure but the next grouping is lacking in upside so the best outcome is to merely meet moderate expectations. Perhaps this is a personal view of mine, but how this ended up looks like they have to have all players besides Jackson to hold on to what they were, despite reasons to suspect it.
Plan Grade: B |
Started: RB, RB, WR, QB, WR,
This is always a safe enough plan. Started out with Rudi Johnson and Westbrook (bonus with reception points) and then tabbed Darrell Jackson as WR1. Went with Brady at QB with the 4.03 pick for a top player and then settled for Houshmandzadeh for a solid WR2.
Addai adds some intriguing spark at the 6.03 and could be a steal there but only found Wiggins left for TE at the 7.10 pick. Did add some nice upside players as backups with Reggie Brown, Jurevicius, Chad Jackson and even Vernon Haynes later on. Overall this is a safe enough team that has some upside and yet no know stars outside of Brady. With some luck (AKA exceeded expectations), a few players could come through to make this team a contender but most likely it looks like about an average team overall with a bit of room to grow but a likely lack of difference makers

Started: RB, WR, WR, TE, RB
This team tried a plan to take advantage of his deep round draft slot with mixed results. Started with Jordan and then doubled on WR with Holt and Driver. Took a zig at the 4.02 to grab top TE in Shockey but then had to settle for Dillon as RB2 at the 5.11. Unfortunately missed on Maroney making the RB2 slot a bit sketchier than desired. After securing McNabb at QB, wisely went back after RB with Gore and then opted for Barlow at the 8.02 instead of Maroney to cover Dillon. Not sure why that was done.
Top DEF in CAR and Green is a great backup QB. Overall there were pretty solid picks and this team made some great moves trying to net difference makers from so deep in the round. Other than Barlow over Maroney, this all made sense and worked out pretty well but QB is a little weaker and RB could be stronger.

Started: RB, RB, WR, WR, QB
Usually a solid plan to follow, but tucked all the way back to the #12 pick caused this team to continually follow all established runs. Started with Domanick Davis and McGahee - solid enough. Then went for Ward and Santana Moss - solid enough. Then grabbed Hasselbeck as likely his only top 5 player (in their position).
Rackers should be an advantage at PK for what that matters though he'll naturally slide back at least a little. Waited on DEF until 14 and 16 and TE was Vernon Davis at the 10.01. There is some upside on some players, but overall this plan just ended up taking players that will likely be below average for their position other than McGahee as RB2 and Hasselbeck at QB. There doesn't appear to be much here in difference makers and that will make contending to be an above average team hard to do with this plan. This works a whole lot better with a top 3 pick, much less so at the end of the first round.
