Game Predictions

Prediction Last Week 13-1, vs. line 9-5, Overall 53-21 (72%), vs. line 41-33 (55%)
BUF 24, DET 20 ( Line: DET by 1) The Lions are due for a win and at home seems like a good spot but injuries to the O-line and Roy Williams are no help and a porous defense makes it even worse. A coin flip game but the Lions are stuck on "not quite good enough".
CAR 10, BAL 16 (Line: BAL by 3) The Ravens come off their first loss but the defense still delivered. The Panthers are on a three game winning streak but the last two were at home. Here's a close, defensive match-up that will be decided by turnovers and field position.
CIN 27, TB 20 ( Line: CIN by 6) This could be a trap game of sorts but the 0-4 Bucs are always losing by just a couple of points and have to be beyond desperate. But the Bengals are coming off a bye after getting spanked by the Pats and cannot take any game lightly.
HOU 10, DAL 27 ( Line: DAL by 13) The Texans visiting usually heals whatever ails you and this week it's a big game by Bledsoe and Owens. After last week, the Cowboys need a big win before hosting the Giants in week seven and no team is as good at letting offense excel against them as Houston.
NYG 20, ATL 17 ( Line: ATL by 3) This is a coin flip game since both teams match their strength to the strength of the opposing defense. The Falcons are rested coming off their bye week but the Giants are hitting their stride after a solid win over the Skins.
PHI 24, NO 23 ( Line: PHI by 3) The Eagles could start out flat this week after their big win over the Cowboys and the Saints at home smacks of a trap game (if you can consider a 4-1 team as a trap). The Eagles will wake up in time to win but should be some late game theatrics to get there.
SEA 20, STL 23 ( Line: SEA by 3) While this should be a Seattle win by last year's standards, these Rams are much different (they have some defense for one) and are starting to get into gear in the new scheme. Seattle still doesn't have Alexander and the wideouts drop passes. If Seattle can avoid making turnovers - they can win. Here's thinking the Rams are just good enough once again.
TEN 10, WAS 27 ( Line: WAS by 10) The Titans almost pulled off the upset in Indy last week but the Skins at home do not have the luxury of taking any game lightly. Portis gets on track here while the Titans suffer from facing a desperate team.
KC 17, PIT 20 ( Line: PIT by 7) There are two keys to this game. Is Larry Johnson recovered from making like an owl last week and will the real Roethlisberger actually show? The Chiefs sport a great secondary and could make this an upset if Roethlisberger continues to struggle.
MIA 14, NYJ 16 ( Line: NYJ by 3) Here's a coin toss game between two bad teams but the Jets are at home and steaming after being humiliated in Jacksonville last week. The Fins are due but on the road with Harrington in his second start, even going against the Jets is not likely enough.
SD 23, SF 7 ( Line: SD by 10) The Chargers could try to mail this in since they come off the big win over PIT and have a trip to KC next week, but the 49ers against this defense won't be able to challenge. The strengths of the 49ers go into the strengths of the SD defense and the 49ers are #32 against TE's this year - say hello, Antonio...
OAK 0, DEN 34 ( Line: DEN by 15) Okay, so this could get ugly if Denver doesn't lose interest or takes pity. On the national game, what better place for Denver to show up big? Here's an interesting final footnote to the Mike Shanahan vs. Al Davis feud - the headcoach that Davis used to replace Shanahan just four games into the 1989 season? Art Shell! Oh yeah, this could get ugly.
CHI 27, ARZ 6 ( Line: CHI by 10.5) Interesting Monday Night game that likely will lose the audience by halftime. Leinart was a surprise last week but everyone sees him coming now and he'll be without Fitzgerald. Bears could slow down here but on Monday night, who could resist some fun?
