Week 17 Sunday Injury Recap

The following is a brief recap of all the injuries occurring during the Sunday games. A complete detailed injury report will be published on Tuesday.

Jay Cutler, QB, DEN
Minor Concussion – Left after getting hit hard in the first half but he was able to return and finish the game. The injury is not considered a problem and he should be completely healthy for the start of the Broncos’ off-season conditioning program.

Ron Dayne, RB, HOU
Sprained Ankle – Aggravated a previous ankle injury during pre game warm-ups and he was unable to play in the game. The severity of the injury is currently unknown but the Texans expect him to make a full recovery in time for their off-season conditioning program.

Trent Green, QB, KC
Sprained Ankle – Left game in the third quarter and after having it taped he was able to return. The severity of the injury is currently unknown but the team expects him to play in next weekend’s playoff game.

Rodney Harrison, DB, NE
Undisclosed Leg Injury – Was hurt when he took a helmet to the knee in the second quarter. He appeared to be in a lot of pain but he eventually walked off the field on his own. He did not return to the game. The severity of the injury and his status for the first round of the playoffs is currently unknown.

Kelly Herndon, DB, SEA
Broken Ankle – Left game in the first half and did not return. X-rays have confirmed that he has a broken bone in his ankle and he will probably miss the playoffs.

Devin Hester, DB/PR, CHI
Unspecified Leg Injury – Left game after hurting his leg in the third quarter. Severity of the injury and his status for the playoffs is currently unknown.

Jeb Putzier, TE, HOU
Fractured Foot – Was hurt during pre game warm-ups. X-rays in the locker room confirmed that there is a broken bone in his foot. The exact nature of the injury is currently unknown but the team does not believe that it will prevent him from taking part in the their off-season conditioning program

Philip Rivers, QB, SD
Sprained Foot – Injured his foot but after having it taped on the sideline he was able to return to the field and finish the game. The severity of the injury is currently unknown but it does not appear to be serious.

LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, SD
Sprained Foot – Was hurt in the first half and he was eventually pulled from the game in the third quarter. Severity of the injury is currently unknown but with two weeks before their first playoff game the medical staff believes he will be ready.

Michael Vick, QB, ATL
Sprained Ankle – Was injured in the third quarter and he had to be helped off the field. He was taken to the locker room and he did not return. The severity of the injury is currently unknown but it shouldn’t prevent him from taking part in the team’s off-season conditioning program.
